Gainesville fatal crash

Prince William police: “Fatal Crash Investigation – On November 25 at 7:50PM, crash investigators responded to the 5300 block of Davis Ford Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a single-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed the driver of a 1994 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Davis Ford Rd. at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the eastbound lanes, and left the roadway. The vehicle traveled off-road before striking a tree and coming to rest. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.”

“The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The driver was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash on November 30. Speed and impairment appear to be factors in the collision. Investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to contact police.”

Prince William police: “Armed Robbery | Carjacking – On November 29 at 2:47PM, officers responded to the area of Gunsmith Terrace and Old Landing Way in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed two 16-year-old male juveniles were in the above area conducting a shoe transaction when they were approached by an unknown man.”

“During the encounter, the suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded property from both juveniles. The suspect then took the vehicle belonging to one of the juveniles and drove out of the area. No weapon was brandished by the suspect, only implied. While driving the stolen vehicle, the suspect rearended a Prince William County Public Schools bus stopped at the intersection of Rippon Landing Way and Blackburn Rd. The suspect then fled on foot prior to police arriving in the area. The bus driver was the only occupant on the bus at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported.”

“A police K-9 searched the area for the suspect, who was not located. Shoes and an undisclosed amount of money were reported missing. Suspect Description: A black male, about 20 years old, approximately 5’11”, and right-handed Last seen wearing a black mask and a black jacket with fur on the hood.”

There have been 13 carjackings in Prince William County in 2023, police said.

Prince William Police Department: Strong-Arm Robbery *ARREST – On November 22, the suspect sought in connection to the robbery that was reported to have occurred at the Potomac Mills Nordstrom Rack located at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle, suite #972, in Woodbridge on November 13, was arrested. The accused, identified as Dwayne EDWARDS, was located in the Woodbridge area and taken into custody without incident. The case remains active as officers attempt to identify the second suspect involved in the incident. Arrested on November 22: Dwayne EDWARDS, 60, of 3983 Antwerp Court in Woodbridge. Charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and grand larceny. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Unavailable. Suspect Description: Black male, unknown age, 5’10, 180lbs with a medium build. No clothing description available.”

Strong-Arm Robbery [Previously Released] – On November 13 at 11:37 a.m., officers responded to the Potomac Mills Nordstrom Rack located at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle, suite #972, to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed loss prevention staff observed a man conceal merchandise and exit the store through an employee door. The staff member confronted the man in the parking lot loading the merchandise into a vehicle. During the encounter, a second man exited the vehicle before both men struck the staff member. The suspects then got into the vehicle and fled the area. Minor injuries were reported, and various handbags were taken. During the investigation, officers identified the second man involved as Dwayne EDWARDS and obtain arrest warrants. The initial suspect who concealed the merchandise has not been identified. Attempts to locate EDWARDS have been unsuccessful.”

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On November 27 at 11:14 p.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 4500 block of Kentmore Drive in Woodbridge to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed a residence was struck by gunfire as a black four-door sedan was seen fleeing the area. Officers located shell casings in the roadway. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.”

Malicious Wounding – On November 28 at 2:44 a.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 18500 block of Cabin Road in Triangle to investigate a stabbing. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim, a 43-year-old man, was stabbed following an altercation with an alleged unknown individual(s). Another occupant of the home contacted the police. The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. There is no suspect description at this time.”

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On November 27 at 3:50 p.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 4300 block of Kentland Drive in Woodbridge to investigate a destruction of property. The
investigation revealed at approximately 1:00 p.m., a resident of the home woke to loud noises before discovering their vehicle parked in the roadway had been struck by gunfire. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.”

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On November 26 at 11:07 a.m., officers responded to investigate a shots fired call that was reported to have occurred in the 10600 block of Flory Road in Nokesville earlier that morning. The investigation revealed at approximately 2:00 a.m., gunshots were heard in the above area before the caller located shell casings in the roadway later that morning. No injuries or property damage were reported.”

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On November 27 at 12:03 p.m., officers responded to the 12400 block of Hedges Run Drive in Woodbridge  to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed witnesses had observed an unknown man retrieve a firearm from the trunk of a white BMW in the above area. While handling the firearm, the man fired two rounds before leaving the area. No injuries or property damage were reported. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a dark-colored hat, a green sweat suit, and a white vest.”

Brandishing of a Firearm – On November 26 at 10:54 a.m., officers responded to Gordon Blvd. near Horner Road in Woodbridge to investigate a brandishing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 73-year-old man, followed a truck to the above area where he confronted the driver for allegedly dumping trash in a nearby parking lot. During the encounter, the driver brandished a firearm towards the victim who contacted the police as the suspect fled the area. No shots were fired. The suspect was described as an 18–25-year-old Hispanic male with short black hair.”

Indecent Exposure – On November 26 at 11:28 p.m., officers responded to the Princeton Woods Apartments located in the 3300 block of Dry Powder Close in Dumfries to investigate an indecent exposure. The investigation revealed the victim, a 26-year-old woman, was in the parking lot when she observed an unclothed man making inappropriate gestures. No interaction occurred between the victim and the suspect who left the area a short time later. Suspect Description: A white male, approximately 5’7, 165lbs., with short curly black hair, and tattoos on his shoulders.”

Malicious Wounding | Domestic Related – On November 26 at 2:54 a.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 3500 block of Shandor Road in Woodbridge to investigate a stabbing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 39-year-old man, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused threw a phone striking the victim before she retrieved a knife and attempted to cut the victim. When another occupant of the home, a 33-year-old man, intervened, the accused cut the with the knife. The parties eventually separated, and the police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Kelly Jhohana MENESES ROJAS, was arrested. Arrested on November 26:
Kelly Jhohana MENESES ROJAS, 24, of the 3500 block of Shandor Road in Woodbridge. Charged with malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, and domestic assault & battery. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond.”

Prince William Parks & Recreation: “Mark your calendars for this Friday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m., as we kick off our 2nd annual Holiday Walk of Lights at Neabsco Regional Park.”

The park is located at 15125 Blackburn Road, Woodbridge.

“The public is invited to join us for an opening ceremony to officially ‘switch on the lights’ at 5:30 p.m. Shuttle bus from designated parking lots will begin running at 5:15 p.m. Balsamo’s Pizzeria & Taste and See Coffee food trucks will be onsite on opening night.”

“The free light displays will run through December 23. Dates and times vary, please click here for full dates/hours of operation.”

“This year, spectators can expect to view light displays crafted into the shape of ornaments, deer and 120-foot-long toy train lit to look like it’s moving, just to name a few.”

“In addition to its regular hours, there will be a special sensory-friendly only night on Tuesday, December 12, offering low lights and reduced volume of the light displays.”

“Please note that parking onsite at the park is reserved for those with disabled license plates or placards only. Everyone else must park at one of the free designated parking areas at Rippon Middle School or Porter Traditional School (except December 1), with overflow parking at Featherstone Elementary School. A free shuttle bus will run continuously back and forth every 10 – 15 minutes to pick people up from the designated parking locations and drop off at the light display. The last shuttle picks up at 8:45 p.m. and the lights turn off at 9:00 p.m. Each shuttle ride is approximately 2 – 3 minutes long.”

Transurban: “Transurban North America, operator of the 95, 395, and 495 Express Lanes, announced today the final access points of the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension will open at 10 p.m. on December 7, 2023, ready for northbound rush hour the morning of December 8, 2023. Completion of the extension creates the longest reversible facility in the nation, with additional access and capacity improvements for the corridor underway.”

“Regional travelers will have new access to the 95 Express Lanes via a reversible ramp from Courthouse Road/Route 630 in Stafford County, and a northbound exit from and southbound entrance to I-95 general purpose lanes near Marine Corps Base Quantico. Access will also be available at the southern terminus for northbound traffic entering from Route 3 and Route 17.”

“The $670 million public-private partnership is generating an estimated 9,000 jobs, has invested over $75 million in small, disadvantaged, and minority- and women-owned businesses, and distributed grant funding to more than 80 local non-profit organizations. Delivering 66% more capacity, the Fredericksburg Extension is used by over 15% of 95 Express Lanes users—one in four of them new to the Express Lanes in the last three years.”

“Additionally, at 10 p.m. on December 7, 2023, the southbound ramp from the I-95 general-purpose lanes to the 95 Express Lanes near Opitz Boulevard Bridge project in Prince William County will be closed permanently. During daytime reversal on December 8, the new southbound Dale Boulevard ramp will open replacing the previous access point.”

The 10-mile I-95 E-ZPass lanes extension from Garrisonville Road to Route 17 on August 17, 2023. Now, drivers with three or more occupants and an E-ZPass Flex transponder affixed to their windshields may ride free on the lanes between Fredericksburg and Washington, D.C.

Vehicles with two fewer occupants and an E-ZPass Flex transponder affixed to their windshields may opt to pay a toll to use the lanes

Prince William Police Department:  Attempt to Disarm a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On November 18 at 10:02 p.m., while patrolling in the area of Easy

Navon Malik REID

Street and Richmond Highway in Woodbridge officers located a man trespassing in a posted no trespassing area. During the encounter, officers determined the man, later identified as the accused, was also actively wanted. As officers attempted to detain the accused, he actively resisted and refused to follow officers’ commands. At some point during the encounter, the accused attempted to retrieve a knife from his waistband and when officers prevented him from doing so, he struck an officer in the face. The accused then grabbed another officer’s neck before grabbing the officer’s weapon and attempting to remove it from the holster. After an additional brief struggle, the accused was secured without further incident. Officers also determined the accused was in possession of suspected illegal narcotics. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Navon Malik REID, was arrested. Arrested on November 18: Navon Malik REID, 26, of no fixed address. Charged with 1 count of attempted disarming of a LEO, 2 counts of assault & battery on LEO, 2 counts of obstruction of justice, and 1 count of possession of schedule I/II drug. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond.”

James Michael MORGAN

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On November 18 at 5:22 p.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 12900 block of Luca Station Way in Woodbridge to investigate a fight. The investigation revealed a man suffering a mental health crisis, later identified as the accused, and his 49-year-old male caretaker were outside of the residence when the accused struck the caretaker. A struggle between all of the parties ensued, during which the accused struck a 60-year-old male neighbor and bit a 42-year-old male neighbor. Officers arrived and after a brief struggle, during which the accused spit on an officer, the accused was taken into custody. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as James Michael MORGAN, was arrested. Arrested on November 18: James Michael MORGAN, 58, of 12968 Luca Station Way in Woodbridge. Charged with 1 count of assault & battery on LEO and 3 counts of assault & battery. Court Date: Pending | Bond: $5,000 Secured Bond.”
