I-95 Northbound and Southbound: Bridge Washing: Tuesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. Single lane closure starting at 9 p.m., followed by double lane closures starting at 10 p.m. for bridge washing at the following locations:

• Between Exit 118 (Thornburg) and Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) at mile marker 119 bridge over the Po River and mile marker 121 bridge over the Ni River.
• Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) bridge over Route 1 overpass.
• Between Exit 130 (Route 3) and Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) at mile marker 132 bridge over the Rappahannock River.
• Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) bridges over Route 630.
• Between Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville) and Exit 148 (Quantico) at mile marker 145 bridge over Aquia Creek.
• Exit 104 (Carmel Church): Saturday - Sunday, 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. Static lane closures at mile markers 104-103 for bridge inspection at CSX railroad crossing.

I-95 Northbound: Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway): Tuesday - Friday, 9 p.m. - 4:30 a.m. and Friday - Saturday, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. Single lane closure starting at 9 p.m. followed by double lane closure at 10 p.m. on I-95 northbound at mile markers 133-135 for 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension work.

Well, partner, if the weather holds up, there’s gonna be some northbound lane closures on I-95 this Friday night, May 17. If things don’t pan out, they’ll give it another go on Saturday night, May 18. This here’s happening ‘round mile marker 155, between the Dale City Truck-Only Safety Rest Area North and Cardinal Drive, all thanks to some work on the Powells Creek bridge, according to the folks at the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Here’s how it’s gonna shake out (one lane’ll always be open, so don’t fret too much):

– From 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, May 17, they’re closin’ down one lane.
– Then from 11 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday, May 18th, it’ll be down to two lanes closed.
– Come 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday, it’ll go back to one lane closed.

If they need more time:
– On Saturday, May 18, from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., one lane’ll be closed.
– From 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, May 19, two lanes’ll be closed.
– Finally, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, May 19, one lane’ll be closed again.

Once they’re all done, the northbound lanes will be shifted left along the bridge over Powells Creek until summer rolls around.

Folks should be ready for delays and might want to think about takin’ another route.

These closures are for the last bit of millin’ and pavin’, plus puttin’ down permanent stripes on the northbound lanes as part of the I-95 over Powells Creek Bridge Rehabilitation Project. This here project is all about makin’ things safer and stretchin’ the life of the northbound and southbound lanes over Powells Creek. Those bridges were first built way back in 1963, fixed up in 1976, and widened in 1981 and 1996.

They’re mendin’ steel beams, concrete abutments and piers, replacin’ bearings, closin’ deck joints, and givin’ the bridges a fresh coat of paint. Plus, they’re resurfacin’ the deck of the northbound lanes bridge. They aim to wrap this up by summer.

I-95 Northbound and Southbound: Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) to Exit 148 (Quantico): Tuesday - Wednesday, 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Mobile work zone to patch potholes. Expect alternating single and double lane closures at various locations between the two interchanges.

• Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton): Sunday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating single and double lane closures at 10 p.m. at the four bridges over the Rappahannock River at mile marker 132 for bridge washing.
• Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton): Sunday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating single and double lane closures at 10 p.m. at all the bridges over Route 17 at the exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) interchange for bridge washing.
• Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway): Sunday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closures at the bridges over Potomac Creek near the exit 136 (Centrport Parkway) interchange for bridge washing with double lane closures at 10 p.m.
• Exit 140 (Courthouse Road): Sunday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closure at the bridges over Courthouse Road at the interchange for bridge washing with double lane closures at 10 p.m.
• Exit 143 (Garrisonville): Sunday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closure at the bridges over Aquia Creek with double lane closures at 10 p.m. at mile marker 145 near the exit 143 (Garrisonville) interchange for bridge washing.

I-95 Northbound: Exit 126 (Spotsylvania): Sunday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Bridge work. Single lane closure at 9 p.m. followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. between mile markers 125-126. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Construction of a new overpass of I-95 at Route 17 (Mills Drive).

I-95 Northbound: Exit 118 (Thornburg): Sunday - Thursday, 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. and Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closures at night at mile marker 119 north of exit 118 (Thornburg) at the bridge over the Po River for bridge maintenance repairs. Single lane closure during the day for bridge washing.

VDOT: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and its contractor will begin building an intersection improvement project at Lee Hill School Drive and Old Dominion Parkway in Spotsylvania County on Monday, April 29. The intersection is just over a mile from Lee's Hill Golf Club.

VDOT: PRINCE WILLIAM – Beginning Sunday night, April 28, weather permitting, a portion of the northbound and southbound I-95 general purpose lanes in Prince William County will have nighttime single- and double-lane closures until late fall for roadway joint repairs and paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. At least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times.
