ALCOHOL OFFENSE:
Jeff Rouse Center, 1600 Mine Road, 9/28, 12:30 a.m. Sergeant M.L. Jacobeen was in the area when he observed a vehicle occupied by a male and female. Considering the early morning hours, it was unlikely the pair were there for swimming lessons, so Sergeant Jacobeen made contact with them. The male was discovered to be in possession of Twisted Teas and had given the female some to consume. He was issued summons for underage possession of alcohol and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The female was turned over to a family member.DISTURBANCE:
Stafford Regional Handbell Society, 106 Banks Ford Parkway, 9/27, 9:31 a.m. Sergeant M.E. Gordon was in the area with a disabled vehicle when she observed a loud disturbance occurring. Sergeant Gordon made contact with the two parties involved, the female was detained and eventually charged with obstruction of justice. The male was charged with assault and battery for slapping the female prior to Sergeant Gordon’s arrival. Stafford County will host its annual National Night Out at Stafford Market Place today, Tuesday, October 1, 2024. The event, one of the county's largest community gatherings and the largest National Night Out celebration in the region features various food, business, and nonprofit vendors.
Originally moved to the fall during the pandemic, Stafford continues to hold this event in October, unlike other jurisdictions that celebrate in August.
The event will be held at Stafford Marketplace in North Stafford and provides an opportunity for neighbors to meet and connect outside. Registration opened on June 21. The opening ceremony will begin at 5 p.m., and the event is free to the public. Attendees are reminded to leave pets at home unless they are service animals and to refrain from smoking. Weather conditions are monitored, and updates will be provided on the sheriff's Facebook and X accounts if necessary.

On September 25, deputies were called to O’Reilly Auto Parts at 38 Bojangles Way following reports of fraud suspects in the store. Employees, aware of the suspects from previous incidents involving bounced checks, alerted law enforcement upon their arrival. First Sergeant J.D. Floirendo spotted the suspects' vehicle entering I-95 North and followed them to a Sheetz station at 15 Wyche Road, where a high-risk traffic stop was executed. Both suspects were detained without incident.

A truck accident occurred just before 10 a.m. today at Mine Road and Embrey Mill Road in North Stafford. Rescue crews pulled a vehicle from a storm retention pond.
According to Major Shawn Kimmitz from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the crash led to an immediate response from local rescue teams, who successfully extracted one person from the submerged vehicle. The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently receiving medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The conditions during the accident included rainfall, although it is still unclear whether speed played a role in the mishap. The intersection was partially closed to facilitate the rescue operation and to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A Stafford County driver discovered an unexpected stowaway, a kitten named "Kitty Purry," in the engine compartment of his Toyota RAV4 after stopping at a 7-Eleven on Solomon Road.
Deputy O.J. Martins and his team spent an hour and a half safely rescuing the frightened kitten, using tools like a lockout kit, snake hook, and snappy snare to dismantle parts of the engine. Kitty Purry was taken to the Animal Shelter and will be available for adoption soon.

Stafford County Sheriff's Office has announced its annual paper-shredding event will be on October 5, 2024, from 9 to 11 a.m., or until the bins are full. Shredding is $5 per box, with the maximum box size 15 x 12 x 10.
The drive-through event is hosted by Stafford County Crime Solvers. Stafford County Crime Solvers is a community-driven program that encourages public involvement in solving crimes by offering cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to arrests, resolutions of unsolved cases, or recovery of stolen property. Callers remain anonymous, and confidentiality is strictly maintained throughout the process. The program is managed by a volunteer board of directors and is funded entirely by private donations.

3 p.m. -- From the Stafford Sheriff's Office:
On September 4th at approximately 11:06 p.m. Communication Officers received numerous calls related to a shooting on Hulls Chapel Road. It was advised a male was shot and the suspect was fleeing the area in a Ford Mustang.
First Sergeant D.W. Fetterolf and Deputy M.N. Sayegh were first to turn onto Hulls Chapel Road and observed a Mustang fleeing the area. They would conduct a high risk stop and detain the driver as additional deputies responded to the residence that the shooting occurred. The seventeen-year-old driver was found to be in possession of a firearm. Deputies X.D. Bates, A.J. Charoenthep and E.T. Osborn arrived at the residence and located a 42-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound. They would attempt to perform live-saving measures until Fire and Rescue staff could arrive. Unfortunately, those attempts were unsuccessful and the male was pronounced deceased at 11:25 p.m.The investigation revealed the victim, Jose Cruz Del Cid, of Stafford, was involved in an argument with another family member. During the argument, the suspect got involved and shot Cruz. As a result of the investigation, the suspect was charged with second degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being detained at Juvenile Intake.Thank you to the deputies and Fire and Rescue staff for their efforts to try and save the victim. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim.
