Declining birth rates and the growing number of people fleeing the state for lower living costs have Prince William County Public Schools rethinking how it will build new schools and remodel existing buildings.
The county school board got the first glimpse of its proposed capital improvement plan, and it suggests delaying the construction of the county's 14th high school at Minnieville and Telegraph Roads in Woodbridge. The school board had initially planned to build and open the school this year when it purchased about 20 acres of land on which it would sit in 2021.

Prince William police: "Assault & Battery | PWC Public School Staff Member Arrest – On December 27, officers concluded an investigation into an alleged assault by a teacher against a student that was reported to have occurred at Marshall Elementary School located at 12505 Kahns Rd in Manassas (20112) on November 29. The investigation revealed a student, a 9-year-old girl, was grabbed and dragged by a teacher, identified as the accused, from one classroom inside the school to another. The incident was reported to the police later that evening. The victim sustained minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Christine Annette MITCHELL, was charged. Charged on December 27: [No Photo Available] Christine Annette MITCHELL, 60, of 8820 Bentfield Dr in Manassas Charged with assault and battery. Court Date: Pending | Status: Released on a Court Summons."
Prince William Police Department: "Suspicious Incident – On December 18 at 12:34 p.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Colgan High School located at 13833 Dumfries Road in Manassas was notified of inappropriate drawings and writings found in a bathroom. The investigation revealed earlier that morning, school security personnel entered a male bathroom where they encountered students who found multiple pieces of toilet paper with derogatory/offensive language and inappropriate images written on them. The SRO and school personnel determined none of the observed writings appeared to contain any threats of harm towards students, staff, or other school personnel. A search was conducted, and no additional writings were located."
