Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth announces the sentencing of Anthony Perkins, 27, arising from the May 2022 murders of two Woodbridge men. On October 3, 2024, Mr. Perkins was sentenced by Judge Angela Horan of the Prince William County Circuit Court to 70 years in prison with 10 years suspended resulting in an active sentence of 60 years in prison to serve and a period of indefinite probation upon his release.
On June 14, 2024, a Prince William County jury found Mr. Perkins guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and gang participation involving a juvenile; on June 17, 2024, the same Prince William County jury recommended a sentence of 70 years in prison. The case was prosecuted by Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Kristina Robinson and Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Donald Goodman.
On Thursday, January 19, 2023, police found the body of 20-year Jose Abelino Guerrero, which had been dumped in Prince Georges County, Md.
The victim was stabbed to death following a drug transaction in Woodbridge, police said.
Guerrero left his home on Lost Canyon Court near Woodbridge at 8 p.m. December 21, 2o23.
Two days later, on Dec. 23, 2022, the victim’s vehicle was located unoccupied in the area of Bel Air and Jeffries roads in Woodbridge, where evidence of a struggle and blood was found. At that time, police upgraded Guerrero’s missing status to endangered and asked for the public’s help to find him.
Margaret Franklin, representing the Woodbridge District on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, attended a candlelight vigil for the victim, calling for “no stone is left unturned, and the family receives open communication.“
Over the following weeks, multiple searches were conducted, and leads were developed. Detectives identified two persons of interest in connection to the victim’s disappearance.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at a residence in the 14100 block of Matthews Drive in Woodbridge, where the suspects were located and detained. The investigation revealed the victim and suspects arranged to conduct a narcotics transaction on December 21, 2022.
During the transaction, an altercation occurred, and the victim was stabbed multiple times and presumably died from his injuries. The suspects then drove the victim’s body to Prince George’s County.
The victim’s vehicle was left in the Woodbridge area, where it was later located by family members and law enforcement.
On Jan. 19, 2023, Prince William County detectives coordinated with Maryland authorities, where a body was subsequently located and recovered. The body has since been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Maryland for an autopsy and confirmation of the victim’s identity.
Olvin Daniel Argueta Ramirez, 19, of 14106 Matthews Dr in Woodbridge, is charged with murder and stabbing in the commission of a felony. A 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested in connection to the victim’s death. He was held without bond.
The investigation further confirmed the victim was killed in 2022, which would be the 20th homicide for that year.
On Wednesday, November 16, at 11:16 p.m., officers were called to a home 17400 block of Isle Royale Terrace in the Forest Park neighborhood off Van Buren Road near Dumfries to investigate a shooting.
Two adults, a man and woman were shot inside the basement by a man who had forced his way into the residence. A family dog, a male Pitbull mix, inside the home was also shot, police said.
The suspect fled in a vehicle before police arrived on the scene. Officers provided first aid to the male victim before rescue personnel transported him to an area hospital, where he died due to his injuries later that morning.
Rescue crews pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The family dog was humanely euthanized.
Police said the incident was isolated to the home, and the parties involved were known to one another. The investigation revealed the suspect and the female victim were previously in a relationship.
Over the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified. Information on the suspect and the suspect vehicle was provided to area law enforcement.
Virginia State Police troopers saturated area roadways outside of the county in an attempt to locate the vehicle. Shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday, November 17, officers with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department reported the suspect vehicle had entered a short-term parking lot on the property of Dulles International Airport.
Law enforcement at the airport coordinated with Virginia State Police, along with helicopter assistance from Fairfax County police, and located the vehicle in the lot where the suspect was detained without incident.
Charges are pending against the suspect, identified as a 24-year-old from Woodbridge. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
The victims are Alyssa Trynese Gainey, 22, of Woodbridge, and Javon Alberto Williams, 24, of Dumfries.
On Saturday, November 12, a man was found shot to death inside a parked car in Dumfries.
Detectives have identified the man found, shot, and killed in a vehicle in the area of Morgan Court and Old Triangle Road in Dumfries on Saturday, November 12.
Demetrious Levar Graham, 44, of Woodbridge, Â was found by police shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the driver’s seat of a vehicle after receiving multiple calls of shots fired in the area.
Graham was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives continue to investigate the incident to determine what led up to the shooting.
On Saturday, police reported neighbors hearing loud gunshots in the area prompting 911 calls. Police arrived and found the victim.
More information will be released when available, police said. The investigation continues.

An 18-year-old man lost his life in a shooting Thursday night in Woodbridge.
We first reported the shooting, one of two in the area) late Thursday evening. Police said the victim was shot and killed on Route 1 near Todos Supermarket and Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church at 10:24 p.m.
Police said shots were fired at the victim from nearby woods. Police provided first aid to the victim before rescue crews took him to a hospital, where he died.
The victim is Milton Humberto Esalanetwe Escobar, 18, of Woodbridge. The incident does not appear to be random, police added.
His death marks the 15th  homicide in Prince William County so far this year.

The second shooting appears to be unrelated and occurred in the B section of Dale City. One teen male was shot on Benton Street, near Dale City Elementary School.
Homicide Investigation – On October 27 at 10:24PM officers responded to the 13900 block of Richmond Hwy. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located a community member in the parking lot of a local business providing first aid to an 18-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers continued providing first aid to the man until rescue personnel arrived at the location. The man was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed rounds were fired in the wooded area behind the local business, which struck the victim, before a vehicle fled the area. No additional injuries were reported, and no property damage was located. At this time, detectives from the Homicide Unit are actively investigating the incident to determine what led up to the shooting and are seeking to speak with anyone who has information as to what occurred. Preliminarily, the incident does not appear to be random and there is no active threat to the community. The investigation continues.
