The program, inspired by successful models in cities like Boston and Philadelphia, aims to address crime through a collaborative, data-driven approach involving multiple county departments, including police, fire and rescue, and the courts.

Rescue crews pulled a man to safety after he fell near the Lake Jackson Dam near Manassas.

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 5:53 p.m., emergency response units were dispatched to attend to an injury incident near the shoreline of the Occoquan River, close to the Lake Jackson Dam.

Upon arrival, responders recognized the necessity for additional units equipped for high-angle rescues, given the challenging terrain required to safely extricate the injured individual from the riverbank.

Supplemental support from both Prince William County and the Manassas Fire Department swiftly arrived at the scene to assist. Meanwhile, crews already on the scene administered essential emergency medical treatment for the injuries suffered by the patient, who had fallen while attempting to cross the river.

Eventually, crews placed the patient was carefully secured onto a stretcher. Employing a haul system, emergency personnel pulled the victim from the riverbank. Following the successful extraction, the patient was taken via medevac helicopter to a nearby trauma center for further evaluation and medical attention.

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:41 a.m., the Prince William Fire and Rescue Department responded to reports of a house fire in the 13000 block of Dominique Estates Lane, located in Haymarket. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy flames engulfing a single-family home. Fortunately, none of the occupants were present at the time of the incident.

The intensity of the blaze necessitated extensive firefighting efforts, compounded by the absence of nearby fire hydrants. As a result, the home suffered significant damage, rendering it unsafe for habitation. Two adults and three children have been displaced as a consequence.

Regrettably, one firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening injury during the operation and was subsequently transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

Following investigations by the Fire Marshal’s Office, the incident has been deemed accidental in nature. The fire started in the rear of the house.

Prince William fire and rescue units responded to a residential fire on Merrily Way on April 22, and a fire at Loch Lomond Elementary School on April 20, 2024. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Earlier this morning fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 15500 blk of Merrily Way (22193) for a reported house fire. Crews arrived with heavy fire and smoke showing on the rear side of the single-family home. Due to the quick actions of a neighbor and a police officer, the occupants were safely out of the home when crews arrived. The neighbor attempted to wake the occupants up by using a car horn, arriving shortly afterwards, a Prince William County Police Officer, knocking feverishly on the front door alerted the occupants. The police officer then assisted the family out of the building. The structure sustained moderate damage. No injuries were reported. The Building Official determined the home to be unsafe to occupy, displacing 2 adults and 1 child. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire started outside the home and spread into the structure. The fire was ignited by improper discarded smoking materials.

This morning fire and rescue units were dispatched to Loch Lomond Elementary School (7900 blk Augusta Road) for a report of smoke coming from one of the school’s trailers. Crews arrived with smoke showing from a trailer. Extinguishment quickly followed. No injuries were reported. The classroom trailer was not being used for instructional purposes but rather for general storage. There will be no disruption to school activities. School officials were on the scene. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was ignited by an electrical failure within a wall structure.

At least five people were displaced after the fire, according to initial reports.

Prince William fire and rescue crews were called to a townhouse Fire at 9:36 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024

Four adults and a child were displaced after the fire.

Prince William fire and rescue: Yesterday evening, fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 8700 blk of Chorley Way (Bristow) for a reported townhouse fire. Crews arrived to find light smoke showing and all occupants safely out of the home. The fire was quickly discovered in the kitchen and was promptly extinguished. The home sustained moderate damage. No injuries were reported. The structure was declared unsafe to occupy by the Building Official, displacing 4 adults and 1 child. Th 5 were assisted by the Red Cross. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined an occupant was utilizing the kitchen’s oven when they smelled smoke and discovered fire coming from underneath the appliance. The cause was accidental involving the faulty appliance.
