Regional transit provider OmniRide will begin serving new destinations, and it won't be long before customers may ride on new buses.
OmniRide aims to replace eight 2008 model motor coaches buses that have reached the end of their useful life.

OmniRide’s Service Change will take effect on Monday, December 11. The organization will add three new routes from Fredericksburg to North Stafford using the I-95 E-ZPass Express Lanes extension.
OmniRide will add Stafford to the State Department and Spotsylvania and Falmouth routes to the Pentagon and destinations in D.C.

Press Release: "On Thursday evening, November 30, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting event will occur in Washington, D.C. The planned road closures and increased pedestrian traffic are expected to cause congestion and delays within the D.C. service area."
"This will cause changes to OmniRide Express P.M. service. OmniRide Express trips that would originate in D.C. will instead start at the Pentagon. Trips will start at the Pentagon at the same time they are scheduled to start from their last D.C. timepoint. Regular fares will be in effect."

OmniRide will expand its service in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties starting next month.
The regional commuter bus operator will launch three new routes – two in Stafford and one in Spotsylvania. It’s the most significant expansion of OmniRide service outside of Prince William County since the bus operator began service in Woodbridge in 1986.

"Total operating expenses of all transit agencies have increased from $50.7 billion in 2019 to $53.7 billion in 2022, according to the FTA data. At the same time, passenger-paid fares plummeted during that time span, dropping from $15.3 billion in fare revenue in 2019 to $8.3 billion in 2022, a nearly 50% drop."

OmniRide: “OmniRide held a ribbon cutting for new buses on August 23 at the OmniRide Western Facility in Manassas. Members of the Board of Commissioners were in attendance. Remarks were made by Board Chair Victor Angry, OmniRide Executive Director Bob Schneider, and Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC) Executive Director Kate Mattice.”
“Eight of the 15 commuter buses and one of the four local buses were purchased through NVTC’s Commuter Choice program. The commuter buses will be used to serve the Staffordboro Commuter Lot – with transportation to Washington, D.C, and the Pentagon. These buses include custom designed upholstery, passenger seatbelts, charging stations, brighter destination signs, and an on-board air purifier.”
