On Friday, June 14, Manassas leaders hosted a delegation of Chinese officials and business leaders from the City of Quianjiang in Hubei province. The Manassas Department of Economic Development organized the visit to encourage cultural and economic exchange. This was the first such visit since officials from the City of Shaoxing visited in 2015.
Mayor Michelle Davis Younger, who did not respond to a request for comment for this story, was initially scheduled to lead the delegation but dropped out at the last minute due to a scheduling conflict. Vice Mayor Pamela Sebesky, along with Interim City Manager Doug Keen, took over the task.

Manassas Mayor Michele Davis Younger has called for Delegate Dan Helmer to drop his bid for the Democratic nomination for Virginia's 10th Congressional District following recent sexual assault allegations against him. The primary election is scheduled for June 18.
Mayor Younger's statement comes in response to a press release issued by Charles L. King, Esq., representing an anonymous female member of the Loudoun County Democratic Committee (LCDC). The woman has accused Helmer of sexually harassing her after a political event in 2018. According to King, Helmer groped his client's breast and later made sexually explicit comments about her to others.

Manassas Ballet Theatre celebrated a significant milestone on February 9, 2024, marking its 40th anniversary season. Established in 1983 by Leslie Gearhart, the academy saw a transition in ownership in 1999 when Amy Wolfe took the reins.
Under Wolfe’s leadership, a pivotal moment it occurred in 2007 when she donated the academy to the non-profit Manassas Performing Arts, Inc. This decision not only altered the institution’s name from Manassas School of Ballet to the widely recognized Manassas Ballet Theatre but also underscored its commitment to fostering artistic endeavors in the community.
The commemorative event, held at the academy’s location on 9004 Mathis Avenue in Manassas, featured a ceremonial ribbon cutting and a celebratory cake. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the facility and witness dancers rehearsing for their upcoming performance of Carmina Burana.
The festivities, organized in collaboration with the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, drew a diverse crowd, including local officials, chamber members, staff, and talented dancers. Among the esteemed guests were Manassas Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger, Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega, and Manassas School Board member Christina Brooks, who supported the academy.
