Captain Tina Laguna has served the Manassas Police Department for over 29 years. She started in 1994 working in the city's 911 call center. Since then, she has served in every division within the department.
However, Laguna's initial plan did not include being a police officer. "I grew up in Manassas, specifically in Georgetown South. Unfortunately, I did not have the best experience with the police," explained Laguna.

Manassas police: "Pedestrian Struck by Train -- On August 18, 2023, at 10:54 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to the area of the train crossing on West Street. When officers arrived, they located a 25-year-old male on the train tracks. Rescue was summoned and declared the male deceased. The initial investigation located several witnesses that said that the male subject attempted to jump onto a moving train and fell under it. The investigation is active and ongoing."

Manassas police: “Speed enforcement cameras have been successfully installed outside Round Elementary School on Hastings Drive and Metz Middle School on Wellington Road. The cameras will be active during a thirty-minute period prior to the start of school and at dismissal.”
The active times for each school are as follows:
- Round Elementary School | Hastings Drive: 8:35 – 9:05 am and 4:15 – 4:45 pm
- Metz Middle School | Wellington Road: 7:05 – 7:35 am and 2:45 – 3:15 pm
“On August 16th, a 30-day warning period will begin for these two locations. After the 30-day warning period, citations will begin being issued for speed violations. All violations are reviewed and approved by a Manassas City Police Officer. If it is determined that a violation occurred, a citation will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. The fine is a $100 civil penalty and does not result in driver’s license demerit points or an increase in insurance rates.”
“In the near future, a speed enforcement camera will be live at Dean Elementary School between the hours of 8:05 and 8:35 am and 3:45 and 4:15 pm. Manassas City Police Department: "Shots Fired: On August 1, 2023, at 10:00 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to the 9300 block of Taney Road for a shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and located a victim of an apparent gunshot wound. Officers began life-saving measures and summoned rescue personnel. The victim was airlifted to a local area hospital for further treatment. An extensive investigation was launched in coordination with local law enforcement K9 officers. Officers were able to identify and locate the suspect. The juvenile suspect was apprehended and a Detention Order was served. The investigation is active and ongoing. If anyone has information regarding the above incidents, please contact the Manassas City Police Department at 703-257-8000."
"Shots Fired: On August 1, 2023, at 6:55 p.m. Manassas City Police responded to the area of Taney Road and Hood Road with a report of gunfire.When officers arrived, they began to canvas the area and located several shell casings. Two vehicles and a residence were struck. Officers were unable to locate any injured person for this incident. The investigation is active and ongoing."

Updated Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from Manassas police: “At approximately 2:00 pm on Monday, July 3rd, the Manassas City Police Department received a call regarding a male subject who had been assaulted by four suspects at the 9000 block of Pickett Lane. The victim stated that a pistol was used in the robbery. The assailants fled on foot before police arrival. During the investigation, the Manassas City Police Department deployed a drone and K9 Unit to observe and track these individuals. The suspects were not apprehended and the investigation is ongoing.”
Original post -- Police cleared the Georgetown South neighborhood after warning people to stay away at about 3 p.m. today, Monday, July 3, 2023. There's no word yet on why.

Manassas City police: “On June 26, [2023], at approximately 10:30 p.m., MCPD responded to a report of a possible overdose in a vehicle. Officer Duck located the vehicle and announced on the radio that he believed the subject was in the throes of a narcotics overdose and that he would need to break the window.”
“The backup officers advised Officer Duck that rescue services were stuck behind a train. Officer Duck recognized the exigency of the situation and, without hesitation, shattered the rear window and gave the subject a dose of Narcan. The subject was transported to the hospital by Fire and Rescue for further treatment.”

July 3, 2023, update from Manassas police: "The juvenile is a 9-year-old male, and the dogs are pit bulls."
Original Post -- Manassas City Police: "On June 26th, the Manassas City Police Department responded to an incident on the 9000 block of Winterset Drive involving three individuals bitten by canines. An investigation by our Animal Control Division revealed that the incident began when two dogs were inadvertently let out of the property. During the effort to get two canines back to their residence, one of the two canines began to bite a minor; an adult female relative grabbed the canine and pulled it off the child, allowing the child to get to safety.'

Petty began her career with Manassas police in February 2004.

Police body camera footage shows a Deputy Fairfax County prosecutor refusing to leave a Manassas bar after closing.
The footage, obtained by PLN by a Freedom of Information Act records order, shows a woman identified by people in the video as Ashleigh Sutton, standing outside of the Old Towne Sports Pub after 2 a.m. Saturday, June 10.
