The Prince William County Chamber of Commerce held its 38th Annual Valor Awards hosted by Julianna Valencia from WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., celebrating the bravery and dedication of police, fire, and rescue workers.Â
More than 240 first responders from Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park were recognized for their life-saving actions and courageous service. Their respective chiefs nominated them, and a committee of peers and business community members selected them.

On May 20, 2024, the Manassas City Police Department conducted Operation Old Town Slow Down in response to numerous pedestrian complaints. This operation resulted in multiple traffic violations and the arrest of one wanted subject. Later that day, officers responded to a report of a man brandishing a BB gun near Osbourn High School. They arrested the man and found he was lurking in Virginia while wanted by Maryland authorities. Police did not tell us his age.
Old Town Manassas Traffic Enforcement
On May 20, 2024, the Manassas City Police Department conducted Operation Old Town Slow Down. This initiative was done as the result of numerous pedestrian resident complaints for traffic violations. The Department will continue to conduct focused traffic enforcement around the City in addition to our regular traffic patrols. The results of this initiative were: 1 Wanted Subject Arrest, 5 Speeding, 1 Holding Phone while Driving, 1 Stop Sign, 1 Improper Exhaust, 1 No Valid VA Driver’s License, 4 Window Tint, 4 Vehicle Registration Violations, 2 No Valid Inspection, 2 Equipment Violations, 1 Miscellaneous License Violation, and 1 Seatbelt.

Dean Park Lane in Manassas has been cordoned off due to a significant police presence, leaving residents and parents concerned about the safety of Dean Elementary School students. Authorities have enacted a "shelter-in-place" protocol at the school as a precautionary measure, but details regarding the cause remain scarce.
Concerns escalated when the nearby Martin K. Alloy Boys and Girls Club announced it would also be on lockdown surrounding the situation.

Manassas City Police Department:Â On April 22, 2024, at approximately 2:16 a.m., the Manassas City Police Department responded to a 911 call for shots fired in the 9100 block of Winterset Drive.
Upon arrival, officers located several shell casings at the scene. It appeared an occupied single-family residence was struck by gunfire. Officers located the residents who were unharmed.

We were able to get the subject to come out and is in our custody for mental health review. All roads are open and the heavy police presence is gone. We thank you for your patience.
*Update* 4.10.2024 at 3:36 a.m. We continue to speak with a subject that refuses to come out of his residence. We believe the subject is alone. In order to keep the situation contained police have the area of Wilson Avenue and Weems Road intersection shut down as well part of Portner Avenue. Drivers please use alternate routes. We will update you on any major changes in the status of this investigation.

MPO LaClair exceeds FTO expectations, adopting a cautious approach to his role, according to a city police spokesman. He consistently seeks to challenge trainees, incorporating additional training and extracurricular requirements to bolster their knowledge, skills, and abilities. On February 23, 2024, the silence in the 9200 block of Bayberry Avenue in Manassas was shattered by the sound of gunfire as police responded to a shots fired call at 6:52 p.m.
What began as a routine response quickly escalated into a tense standoff as officers encountered multiple rounds being discharged from within a residence.
According to reports from the Manassas City Police Department, officers rushed to the scene upon receiving the initial call, only to find themselves under fire upon arrival. The officers, in turn, returned fire as they attempted to gain entry into the besieged residence.
