Fredericksburg Nationals: “The FredNats and Fireflies split a doubleheader on Thursday night, with the Nats winning game one 5-1, and Columbia taking game two 3-2 in eight innings.”
“The Fireflies got on the board first when the game resumed in the bottom of the third inning. Brennon McNair was on first base when the game was initially suspended, and he promptly stole second base. He advanced to third base on a fly ball to right field, then scored on an Omar Hernandez RBI single to give Columbia the early 1-0 edge.”
“On to the top of the fifth, where the FredNats loaded the bases on a pair of walks and an opposite field single from Roismar Quintana. Armando Cruz then got hit by a pitch to force a run in, tying the ballgame at a run apiece. Later in the frame, with two outs, Daylen Lile came through with a line-drive double to right field. Two runs came in on the play, giving Fredericksburg a 3-1 lead.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Fredericksburg Nationals took an 8-2 defeat against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to wrap up the six-game set.”
“After a scoreless first inning, the Nats struck in the top of the second. Sammy Infante opened the frame with a double, then later, Branden Boissiere doubled as well to plate Infante with the first run of the game.”
“Brad Lord worked through another scoreless frame in the third inning, before Myrtle Beach tagged him for a run in the fourth. Moises Ballesteros drew a leadoff walk, and moved up to second base on a fielder’s choice ground ball. Cristian Hernandez delivered for the Birds, with a two-out single which tied the game at 1-1.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Fredericksburg Nationals fell behind early to the Pelicans and could not come back in a 7-3 defeat.”
“Myrtle Beach took the lead right away in the bottom of the first on a Moises Ballesteros home run to left field. Then in the second inning, the Pelicans extended their lead. Rafael Morel and Pedro Ramirez opened the frame with back-to-back singles, then Miguel Pabon doubled back up the middle to plate Morel to make it a 2-0 edge. Reivaj Garcia added another run with an RBI groundout before Ballesteros struck again with a single into right, which brought Pabon across with the fourth run.”
“Rafael Morel made it 6-0 in the bottom of the third inning with his two-run homer that snuck over the wall in left field.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “The FredNats dropped a 1-0 nail biter to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in their second meeting of the week.”
“Bryan Caceres took the ball for Fredericksburg, and continued what has been a very good run for him in his return to the starting rotation. He gave up just two base hits in five scoreless innings, but did walk four hitters. Caceres worked himself into and out of trouble throughout the night. On two separate occasions, Myrtle Beach had runners on second and third with one out, but could not score against the FredNat righty.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Fredericksburg Nationals opened up their two-week road trip with a 6-4 victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.”
“It was the Pelicans who got on the board first in this series opener, in the bottom of the second inning. Christian Hernandez and Jefferson Rojas each singled off of starter Brad Lord, to put runners on the corners with one out. Lord got Rafael Morel to pop up for the second out, but Reivaj Garcia smoked a double back up the middle to plate a pair, and Myrtle Beach took a 2-0 lead.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “Major League Baseball (MLB) today announced plans to host MLB Home Run Derby X events in two Minor League Baseball stadiums in August, marking the first two activations to take place in the United States since MLB introduced Home Run Derby X last year in London, Mexico City and Seoul.”
“2009 American League All-Star and 2010 World Series Champion Nick Swisher and 2013 World Series Champion and 13-year MLB veteran Jonny Gomes will participate in the Hartford event. Gomes will be joined by a yet-to-be-named MLB legend for the event in Fredericksburg.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “The FredNats wrapped up their series against the Charleston Riverdogs with a 4-0 victory.”
“Riley Cornelio made his second start of the week, and after working his way out of trouble in the first inning, settled in very nicely. He kept the Riverdogs scoreless through two innings, before Johnathon Thomas put the Freddies ahead with a solo home run in the bottom of the third.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “Fredericksburg jumped ahead early, but eventually lost 6-4 to the Charleston Riverdogs. It was a big first inning for the Nats, as Johnathon Thomas singled and Elijah Green walked to quickly put runners aboard. Paul Witt then clobbered his team-leading seventh home run to put the Nationals ahead 3-0.”
“Jarlin Susana was sharp through three innings, allowing just one run to score on a balk. But in the fourth, a single and a pair of wild pitches allowed the Riverdogs to pull within a run at 3-2.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “The FredNats took their first loss of the series this week, falling 4-1 against the Charleston Riverdogs.”
“After the first two innings went by scoreless, the Riverdogs drew first blood in the top of the third inning. Cooper Kinney worked a walk with two outs in the frame, then Dom Keegan quickly doubled off the wall in center field to plate Kinney and give the ‘Dogs a 1-0 edge.”
“However, Fredericksburg quickly tied the game in the home half of the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start, with a pair of walks and a Geraldi Diaz single to load the bases with no outs. Roismar Quintana then blistered a ball into dead center, but it was caught by Jhon Diaz. That was enough to bring Lile in from third base, but the Nats couldn’t muster any more offense in the frame.”
Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Nationals picked up their fifth win in a row in a 6-1 defeat of the Charleston Riverdogs.”
“Charleston did take an early lead in the top of the first. Xavier Isaac laced a one-out single, then Dominic Keegan reached on an E6. Cooper Kinney followed by grounding into a fielder’s choice at third base, but then a wild throw to first allowed Keegan to score from second base.”
“But in the bottom of the frame, Daylen Lile walked and stole second base, and Elijah Green walked behind Lile. Brady House bounced into a 6-4-3 double play that pushed Lile to third base. Murphy Stehly then reached on an infield single to the right side, which allowed Lile to score and tie the game at 1-1.”
