Singing, dancing, and nostalgia light up the Riverside Theater stage in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, a vibrant journey through the early life and career of one of America’s most beloved songwriters. The story follows a 16-year-old Carole King growing up in Brooklyn, New York, as she chases her dream of becoming a songwriter despite her single mother's insistence that she pursue a more stable career as a schoolteacher. This heartwarming and inspiring narrative is woven with King’s iconic music, celebrating her rise from budding songwriter to legendary solo artist.

Ashlee Waldbauer returns to the Riverside stage with a show-stealing performance as Carole King. Her rendition of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" melts the audience and reminds us why King’s music continues to resonate across generations. Waldbaur, who also starred in Riverside's spring production of They’re Playing Our Song, showcases an ability to channel the emotional depth and vulnerability that made King’s music timeless.

Another Riverside veteran, Zachary Spafford, brings powerhouse vocals to his portrayal of characters like one of the Righteous Brothers, delivering a stunning performance of “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling.” Audiences will remember Spafford from his standout role as Frankie Valli in Riverside’s acclaimed production of Jersey Boys earlier this year, and his talent for hitting those high notes remains an undeniable highlight of the show.

The Fredericksburg Nationals have claimed their first Carolina League Championship since moving to Fredericksburg, defeating the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in a thrilling series finale on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Virginia Credit Union Stadium. This marks the franchise’s first championship since 2014.

The FredNats rebounded from a loss in the second game of the series, played as part of a doubleheader due to a rainout, to clinch the title with a 3-0 victory in game three. In game two, the Nationals' offense was stifled, as they managed just one hit in a 3-0 loss to Kannapolis, forcing a winner-takes-all third game.

The Fredericksburg Nationals (FredNats) are one win away from claiming the North Divisional Championship as they take on the Kannapolis Cannonballers (North Carolina) in Game 2 of the best-of-three series tonight, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Virginia Credit Union Stadium. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

After securing a 6-4 win on the road in Game 1, the FredNats return home to try and finish the series with a victory. Starting pitcher Alex Clemmey takes the mound for Fredericksburg, making his second playoff start. Clemmey had an early solid outing in his first playoff start but struggled in the 4th inning. Travis Sthele is expected to back him up from the bullpen while Kannapolis sends righty Tanner McDougal to the mound.

In Game 1, the FredNats led wire-to-wire, jumping ahead with key RBI hits from Caleb Lomavita and Nate Ochoa and a clutch two-run single from Seaver King in the 5th. Despite a strong comeback effort from the Cannonballers, Fredericksburg held on, aided by a stellar outfield assist from Cristhian Vaquero and solid relief pitching from Robert Cranz and Anthony Arguelles.
