In the early hours of November 13, 2024, a masked individual presented a firearm and demanded cash from a 7-Eleven cashier at 340 Amaret Street before fleeing on foot. Fredericksburg police shared surveillance footage details with Stafford County authorities, who located and arrested Marquis Harrell, 30, at a different 7-Eleven. Harrell faces multiple charges, including using a firearm in a felony, robbery, and brandishing a weapon. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed across jurisdictions.

Early Monday morning, Fredericksburg Police responded to reports of a break-in at Hyperion Espresso, where a man allegedly smashed windows to enter the coffee shop.
According to the report, 66-year-old Roger Ruffner, dressed in a trash bag and armed with a plastic pole and broomstick, claimed he needed to make himself a cup of coffee and broke the window to protect himself, believing he was being followed. Ruffner was taken into custody on charges of breaking and entering to commit larceny and felony vandalism and is currently held without bond.

Fredericksburg City Police are investigating a shooting yesterday, October 28 near the Commons apartment complex located on Cowan Boulevard. Several callers reported hearing gunshots at the same time a man walked into the Fredericksburg Police Department and advised officers he'd been shot.

Yesterday, October 28, 2024 at approximately 7:00 p.m., an individual entered the Fredericksburg Police Department lobby and notified the E-911 center that he had been shot. Officers responded to the lobby and immediately provided lifesaving measures until EMS arrived and transported the male to a nearby hospital.

An industrial accident claimed the life of a Stafford County man on the morning of October 15, 2024. Douglas Contreras-Zuniga, 57, was fatally injured while working at Norfleet Quality LLC, a company known for providing premium mulch products and a longtime supplier to the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C.
The Fredericksburg Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at the company's location on 103 Central Road after receiving a distress call at 7:40 a.m. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered that Contreras-Zuniga had sustained severe trauma to his right leg. Despite their efforts, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

On October 11, 2024, David Rodriguez, 40, of Manassas, was arrested at a Sheetz gas station in Fredericksburg after officers responded to reports of erratic behavior and an attempt to set items on fire. Upon officers' arrival, Rodriguez grabbed a gas pump nozzle while holding a lighter but was swiftly restrained. He was charged with arson, vandalism, trespassing, shoplifting, obstruction of justice, and property damage.
