Stafford's Economic Development team is launching a new program for aspiring and established business owners.
The "Strategic Pop-Up Advisory & Resource Knowledge" (SPARK) program will serve as a form of "office hours" for community members to visit with members of Economic Development office to ask questions and discuss business matters. The mentorship series will be held at different days, times, and locations throughout Stafford.

Potomac River Orthodontics, led by Dr. Owais Naeem, will mark its first anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 4 p.m. The event will occur at 12701 Galveston Court, near Hoadly Road and Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge.

City Vino was previously on Caroline Street but relocated to expand the size of the establishment and offer new items like charcuterie, cheese plates, and paninis, as well as wine pairing dinners and wine classes. “We are first focused on bottle shop sales and will roll out the food element as we onboard our new kitchen staff,” Allan said. City Vino is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and until 9 p.m. on First Fridays. Steve Liga has joined Habitat for Humanity Prince William as the part-time Interim CEO, tasked with modernizing infrastructure, enhancing operations, and leading various initiatives, including the 30th Anniversary Campaign and recruiting a new full-time CEO.
In 2022, Liga left ACTS in Dumfries after serving as its CEO for seven years.

Steve Liga joined Habitat for Humanity Prince William on June 12 as our part-time, Interim CEO. During his tenure, he will be updating our infrastructure, streamlining our operations, improving the profitability of our ReStore (so we can increase the number of our Critical Home Repair projects), completing the renovation of the two houses in our Home Ownership Program and moving families into their new homes, leading our 30th Anniversary Campaign, recruiting for and training our board of directors, and assisting us hire our next full-time CEO. Whew! And did we mention this was a part-time position?
Mr. Liga is the President of Liga Consulting & Training, a company that provides consultation and training based on his extensive skills and expertise in non-profit management, strategic planning, policy and advocacy work, program development, and evaluation. He has over thirty years of experience in the field of social services, twenty-five of which he spent as a CEO of various non-profit organizations. Mr. Liga’s volunteer service has included positions on many nonprofit boards of directors, such as the national Zero Abuse Project, where he is currently Vice Chair.
Mr. Liga’s mission is to help non-profit organizations improve their performance, impact, and sustainability by offering customized solutions and guidance. He specializes in non-profit governance, policy advocacy, storytelling, and board development. He has a proven track record of increasing budgets, launching new programs, and improving efficiencies for his clients and former employers. He has also been a respected resource for media outlets and a frequent speaker at conferences and workshops. He is passionate about improving the health and well-being of the communities he serves, especially the medically underserved, the hungry, and the victims of interpersonal violence.
Working with us at Habitat for Humanity Prince William County is not just another contract for Mr. Liga. His roots with Habitat for Humanity go all the way back to his college days, where he and his wife founded Villanova University’s Habitat for Humanity chapter, which at one point was the largest college-based Habitat chapter in the world!
Occoquan District Supervisor Kenny Boddye will hold a town hall meeting to discuss the proposed Hoadly Square development.
The meeting will address the request to rezone approximately 56 acres of land between Hoadly Road and Prince William Parkway near Woodbridge. The developer, JR Real Estate Group, submitted the rezoning request to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in January 2024.
The town hall will follow an open house format, beginning Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. Prince William County Government Center, 5 County Complex (the green-tinted building), with the opportunity for attendees to visit information stations. These stations allow residents to interact with county staff and the developer’s representatives. A community discussion led by Boddye will follow from 7:10 to 8 p.m.
JR Real Estate Group seeks to rezone the land from its current agricultural designation to a Planned Mixed Residential District (PMR). The proposed development includes 432 residential units, including 64 multifamily units, 216 stacked multifamily units, and 152 single-family attached units. The project also includes several development waivers and modifications, including a height modification.
The subject property is located north of Hoadly Road and west of the Prince William Parkway. It is 645 feet west of the intersection of Hoadly Road, Galveston Court, Ridgefield Village Drive, and a Harris Teeter grocery store.
JR Real Estate Group is represented by the law firm Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley, and Walsh, with Jonelle Cameron as the lead representative. Land Design Consultant’s Inc. serves as the project’s engineer. The firm has several development projects in Prince William and Spotsylvania counties.
Supervisor Boddye has invited constituents to RSVP for the meeting to ensure adequate seating and to submit questions or comments for discussion during the event.

It’s opening day at the Publisher Hotel in Old Town Fredericksburg. The staff is running around, finalizing the details in the lobby and adjoining restaurant to the latest tourist facility in this growing town.
Adam, the valet parking coordinator, stands out front on opening day on Friday, July 19, overlooking a newly paved lot, driveway, and entrance to the new hotel. “It’s fully open,” he said. There are a few parking spots out front, but the hotel has more parking in the parking garage across the street.
The Publisher is part of Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio, managed locally by Ragland at Greenwood Hospitality. The 98-room hotel features penthouse suites, guest rooms, 2,000 square feet of event space, and dining facilities in the Five Chophouse restaurant. The hotel rooms are called “upscale,” the lowest-priced room on the website is a Traditional King Room at the Member Rate, which is flexible for $246 a night. The rates topped out at $409 per night for a King Suite.

The city of Manassas has finalized an agreement to sell a parcel of land to Manassas Hotel Venture Too, LLC, paving the way for constructing a new Home2Suites extended-stay hotel. The latest development is poised to cater primarily to business travelers, providing much-needed accommodations.
The property, located along Gateway Drive and south of Godwin Drive in the development known as The Landing at Cannon Branch, was sold by the Economic Development Authority of the City of Manassas, which oversees the land's development. This project aligns with the city's vision of creating a mixed-use destination that includes office buildings, residential units, retail spaces, and hospitality facilities.

According to Ross Snare, chairman of the Manassas airport authority, the Manassas Regional Airport is poised to update the city council and community on its ongoing efforts to introduce commercial passenger flights at a town hall meeting in September.
In an email, Snare confirmed, "We are actually going to be presenting to council and community at the Townhall in September."

SweetFrog Frozen Yogurt, located at 10077 Market Circle in Manassas, is now open for business. The grand opening was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, welcoming the community to enjoy a variety of frozen yogurt options.
Lulu Trotter, the owner of SweetFrog, shared her journey to opening the new location. "My husband and I initially were going to buy the Ashburn location, but we ended up driving down to see the Manassas one and just fell in love. So we bought it."
