A fundraiser for two children now without their maternal parents will be held tonight in Woodbridge.

Kevin, 14, in 9th grade and his sister, Christie, 16, in 11th grade, are both students at Pope John Paul the Great High School in Dumfries.

Their mother last month, 51-year-old Theresa Depukat, died of Skin Cancer Earlier in their lives, their father died in his sleep of a heart attack.

Luckily, friends say, they have a caring step-father, Eric, who is working to make sure the dream of a college education is still a reality for the siblings.

A benefit will be held tonight at K2 Lounge at Featherstone Square in Woodbridge between 5 and 9 p.m., where 25 percent of all profits tonight will be donated to the children’s college fund.

There will be face painting, balloon twisting, stickers and rings given away to children who come out.  For the older ones, an Xbox 360 will be raffled off.

“If we do the numbers right we could end up raising $1,500 to $2,000 for Christie and Kevin,” said event organizer Clarence Wright.

The event has also been sponsored by an online cupcake shop based in Manassas, founded after the owner’s friend was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
