Update 9:30 a.m. – Ball calls photos sexist, embarrassing
Democratic congressional candidate Krystal M. Ball says the sexually explicit photos that surfaced Tuesday of her in a Halloween costume are sexist and outrageous.
“Of course it’s embarrassing, but more than that, I’m pretty angry about it,” Ball told WWBT-TV in Richmond.
The 28-year-old candidate for Virginia’s 1st congressional district said the photos were taken at a friend’s house after she got out of college.
Ball said voters are extremely frustrated with these kinds of negative attacks on candidates.
She also told the television station it’s unfair that when photos of Massachusetts senator Scott Brown surfaced of him posing for Playgirl magazine in the 1980s, the photos did not become a campaign issue for him when he won his seat in 2009.
Ball, who is running to oust Republican incumbent Robert J. Wittman, is now scheduled to appear on the Today Show to discuss the photos, according to WWBT-TV.

Stafford County, Va. –– Sexually explicit photos that depict Democratic congressional candidate Krystal M. Ball have surfaced on the Web.
The photos show Ball scantily clad wearing a Santa hat, at what appears to be a party inside of an apartment with another male dressed as a reindeer.
The male is wearing a dog chain around his neck and a sex toy on his nose, and Ball can be seen fondling the toy, and then applying her mouth to it.
In other photos she is seen posing for the camera while another female also applied her mouth to the toy.
A campaign spokesman late Tuesday confirmed that it is Ball in the photos, but declined to offer any further comment.
It’s not known when or where the photos were taken.
The 28-year-old Ball is vying for Virginia’s House seat in the 1st District, running against Republican incumbent Robert J. Wittman.
Virginia’s 1st District includes Stafford County and a portion of Prince William County.
Ball grew up in King George County, Va., is a certified public accountant, and along with her husband is a small business owner. The two develop educational software, according to Ball’s Web site.
A local blogger who spoke to PotomacLocal.com late Tuesday said he was asked by the Wittman campaign not to post the photos to his site.
The Ball campaign is expected to make a full statement about the photos Wednesday, according to a campaign spokesman.
