Firefighters work through the night at a gym destroyed by fire; Massive blaze leaves parents, children with fewer indoor sports options

Firefighters stayed at the Kids Choice Sports building on Sport and Health Drive in Woodbridge. A three-alarm fire spread from a single-family Devil’s Reach Road home nearby. The 56,000-square-foot facility was not heavily occupied then; now, it appears one person was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Kids Choice Sport and Fun Center is a popular destination for children and families, offering activities like swimming, laser tag, soccer, and basketball. It recently launched indoor high school soccer leagues and Nova FC Soccer Fall Classes for children aged six to 11.

The loss of the center will leave parents scrambling to find indoor sports alternatives. Earlier this year, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors halted plans for an indoor sports center near Potomac Mills Mall, adding to the challenge of replacing such a facility.
