On December 7, 2022, Manassas City Police responded to the 9700 block of Bragg Lane for a Breaking and Entering. The suspect made entry into the house.
The suspect was encountered by a resident. The suspect threatened the resident with a box cutter and left the house. Officers encountered the suspect and maintained distance while attempting de-escalation techniques due to the weapon.
The suspect fled on foot and escaped. The suspect is wanted on numerous felony charges. The investigator believes this is an isolated incident. Please contact the Manassas City Police at 703-257-8000 with any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect.

Commercial Burglary *FINAL ARREST – On December 8, the second suspect sought in connection to the burglary that was reported to have occurred at Pitkin’s Ace Hardware located at 4340 Dale Blvd. in Dale City on October 12, was arrested. The suspect, Michael Kirk SMITH Jr., was located and taken into custody in Charles County Maryland where he will remain until extradited to Virginia. A 55-year-old man was previously arrested on November 16 in connection to the burglary investigation.

On November 9, while investigating the incident, detectives identified the two suspects who were observed on video surveillance removing property from the store. On November 16, one of the men, identified as Jeffrey Francis KRANZ. was arrested by Fairfax County police.
On October 12 at 2:37AM, officers responded to the Pitkin’s Ace Hardware located at 4340 Dale Blvd. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an alarm activation. Upon arriving at the business, officers observed damage to the metal grates and a lock on a side door. Once inside the business, officers located an additional damaged interior glass door. No property was reported missing from the store. A police K-9 searched for the suspect who was not located.

This event is held each year in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the MLK Day holiday by the Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (PWCAC-DST). The speeches are one component of the celebration, now in its 38th year, that will be broadcast as a free virtual event on the chapter's YouTube Channel, PWCAC DST YouTube Channel (PWCAC-DST-MEDIA), at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 16.

Marine Corps Historic Half Events include the half marathon (13.1 miles), the Semper 5ive (5 miles) and the Devil Dog Double, a combo of the two events for a total of 18.1 miles. All three events are returning to Fredericksburg, Virginia to run live and in-person on May 21, 2023. A virtual option is also available.
Participants receive a short sleeve technical shirt, a commemorative finisher medal and more.
The MCHH Events will also be a part of the Distinguished Participant Program. Now encapsulating all of MCMO’s 2023 events, dedicated runners will earn this coveted title and exclusive medal by completing one live event of the following:
- Tier One: Marine Corps 17.75K on March 25
- Tier Two: A Marine Corps Historic Half event (the half marathon, Semper 5ive or Devil Dog Double) on May 21
- Tier Three: Quantico 12K on August 26
- Tier Four: A MCM Weekend event (MCM, MCM10K or MCM50K) on October 29

The Marine Corps Historic Half will also be part of the Semper Fidelis Challenge in 2023. Details are being finalized as MCMO is working on a new twist to this popular challenge.

Hit-and-Run (City Property Damage)
On December 4, 2022 at 1:15 a.m., Manassas City Police responded to a collision near the intersection of Tudor Oaks Dr. and Signal Hill Rd., in the City of Manassas. Upon police arrival it was discovered that a vehicle struck a light pole and then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The suspect was described by a witness as a heavyset Hispanic Male wearing a white shirt and driving a silver compact sedan with front end damage and a flat tire. This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Manassas City Police at (703) 257-8000.
Larceny from Vehicle
On December 4, 2022 Manassas City Police responded to the 8500 block of Plantation Lane (Iglesia Bethel Church) for a larceny from a vehicle. The victim reported that between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on December 3, 2022 miscellaneous items including tools, U.S. currency and ID documents were stolen from his vehicle. It is not confirmed if vehicle was locked/unlocked at time of theft. Investigation ongoing.

Prince William County has hired Mark Buenavista as the county’s new Planning Director, effective Jan. 23, 2023. The Prince William County Planning Office is responsible for reviewing development applications, including rezonings, special use permits, comprehensive plan amendments, Agricultural and Forestal District applications, zoning appeals, variances and public facility reviews.
Buenavista has 14 years in planning and architectural design, including nine years of experience with county governments in the region. During his time in county government,Buenavista has overseen the planning, programming, facility planning, design and construction administration of multiple large-scale projects and public-private partnerships. Most recently, he led new affordable housing development and existing market affordable housing preservation projects totaling approximately $1.7 billion.
The county’s Planning Office Director oversees support staff to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Historical Commission, Agricultural and Forestal Districts Advisory Committee, Architectural Review Board, and the Trails and Blueways Council.
“We are delighted to welcome Mr. Buenavista at an exciting time in our county as we continue our Pathway to 2040,” remarks Chair At-Large Ann Wheeler. “The Comprehensive Plan will shape growth and the future of Prince William County, and we look forward to Mr. Buenavista’s leadership in the Planning Office and contributions to help advance this plan.”
During his time as the Director of Design, Development and Construction Division at the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development, Buenavista directed the overall planning, acquisition, development and preservation of low- and moderate-income housing and associated community facilities in Fairfax County.
Before joining Fairfax County, Buenavista led advanced project and construction management, created long-range real estate planning, acquisition strategies and disposal of property as an Engineering Specialist with the Howard County Department of Public Works as well as capital project management and development review for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
Buenavista hiring comes after the Board of County Supervisors voted to lure Baltimore City Administrator Christopher Shorter to lead the county’s government, replacing Christopher Martino who retired a year ago. Shorter will make a $350,000 annual salary, one of the the highest of any local government leader in the Washington, D.C. region.
Fatal Crash Investigation *DECEASED IDENTIFIED – Today (Tuesday, December 6) investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit notified a next-of-kin of the 36-year-old man who was struck and killed while walking in the roadway along Richmond Hwy in Quantico (22134) on December 5.
The driver of the second vehicle that is believed to have struck the victim as he laid in the roadway remains unidentified. Investigators continue to ask anyone who may have witnessed this crash to contact police and are urging the driver of the second vehicle to come forward. The investigation continues.
The deceased pedestrian was identified as Marcus Altwan WILSON, 36, of no fixed address.
The driver of the 2010 BMW 5 series was identified as a 17-year-old female juvenile of Triangle.

Due to rain anticipated overnight, a work zone on Interstate 95 northbound in the Fredericksburg area has been extended to continue until 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8.
Northbound travelers can continue to expect heavy traffic, especially at peak periods, between exit 130 (Route 3) in the City of Fredericksburg and exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford.
Through travelers with destinations north of the Washington, D.C, area, are encouraged to detour at exit 104 (Carmel Church) in Caroline County, and travel Route 207 eastbound to Route 301 northbound to avoid delay.
Currently, three lanes of I-95 northbound are open over the Rappahannock River between Fredericksburg and Stafford. Two through lanes of traffic are crossing the new I-95 northbound bridge. A third lane crosses the original northbound Rappahannock River bridge, and allows motorists to access exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton), but also rejoins with the I-95 travel lanes north of exit 133.
Northbound I-95 traffic will remain in this temporary split configuration until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Midnight – Right lane closed north of exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg, near mile marker 131 and Fall Hill Avenue overpass. Exit 133 off-ramp closes. Traffic seeking to exit to Route 17 northbound to Warrenton or Route 17 Business to Falmouth should use exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) as alternate interchange.
4:30 a.m. – All northbound lanes open. Exit 133 off-ramp reopens.
7 p.m. – Single lane of I-95 northbound closed. Exit 133 off-ramp closes, with exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) as alternate interchange.
10 p.m. – Two northbound lanes closed between exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) and exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).
Thursday, Dec. 8
4:30 a.m. – All northbound lanes open. Exit 133 off-ramp reopens.
This work zone is accomplishing construction milestones on two Interstate 95 projects in the Fredericksburg area.
A new interstate bridge opened today as part of the I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing project. The $132 million project is adding three additional travel lanes on the busiest segment of I-95 in the Fredericksburg area, which carries around 150,000 vehicles a day. The project is scheduled to be complete in spring 2024.
Within this same work zone, crews building the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension placed beams Monday night and Tuesday morning for a future flyover ramp north of exit 133, and crews will continue associated work this week.
