Woodbridge district Supervisor Frank Principi is going to the Trader Joeā€™s headquarters in California.

Principi is going to their headquarters to petition for a Trader Joeā€™s location in Woodbridge at his own expense, following consistent feedback from residents.

In a survey he sent to Woodbridge residents, 85 percent of respondents said that they typically spend $100 or more when visiting Trader Joeā€™s, according to a release.

Discover Prince William & Manassas has plans to close the Occoquan Visitorā€™s Center on August 2, and will be meeting to talk about it on July 20.

The organization ā€“ also known as the Convention & Visitorā€™s Bureau ā€“ who is responsible for tourism in the county, consider the visitorā€™s center to be a low return on investment, according to their Executive Director Ann Marie Maher.

ā€œThe CVBā€™s Visitor Center was identified as an area with a low return on investment in relation to other CVB programs,ā€ said Maher.

Former Stafford supervisor Robert Gibbons has announced he will run this year in the Rock Hill district.

Wendy Maurer was named the Republican nominee for the seat, following a primary on June 8.

According to a release, Gibbons began his political career in the 1980s, and is a business owner and a retired veteran.

The Prince William board of supervisors will not be getting a raise.

Following a board meeting on June 15, and a contentious closed session that led to two board members walking out of the room, the board ultimately tabled the issue.

Ideas for raises for the board did not come from the supervisors themselves, but was a county staff recommendation to stay consistent with the boardā€™s informally adopted compensation resolution, that aims to keep their pay comparable to other localities, according to a staff report.

Prince William police and fire rescue now has a new 9-1-1 calling system in place.

The new system ā€“ called Premier One - which had a contracted cost of $16.4 million is being managed by Motorola.

According to a Motorola release, Prince William handles 400,000 emergency calls per year.

Prince William police officer Justin Bonner won a gold medal this week at the 2015 World Police and Fire Games.

The 28-year old officer joined Prince William police in 2006, and became an officer in 2008. He has been with the motor unit for two years.

Bonner won in the novice cone courses for precision and time, and his gold medal for Overall Novice.

Manassas nativeĀ Pete Evick ā€“ known by many as ā€˜Manassas Peteā€™, has had an interesting assortment of life experiences.

The Stonewall Jackson High School graduate has worked with rockstar Bret Michaels for the last 10 years as his lead guitarist, and co-writer and producer of Michaelā€™s last two records.

For those planning to head out of the area for the Fourth of July weekend ā€“ prepare for some heavy traffic.

Currently Interstate 95 going southbound in North Stafford was already seeing congestion at 9 a.m. this morning.

Additionally, there will be some lane changes for those traveling on the I-95 Express Lanes this weekend.
