WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On October 14, two people were arrested in connection to an investigation of physical abuse of a 3-month-old female infant from August 25. Officers from the Physical Abuse Unit were called after the infant was admitted to a nearby hospital in August with bruises on her face and swelling and later determined that she had been smothered by the two suspects. 

Here's the latest from Prince William police: 

Felony Child Abuse – On August 25th, detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit began an investigation into an assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 1300 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge (22191). The investigation revealed that the victim, a 3 month old female infant, was admitted into an area hospital with significant facial bruising and swelling. Due to the nature of the injuries, hospital staff promptly notified police. Through the investigation, detectives were able to determine that the injuries were consistent with a smothering injury. At the time of the incident, the child’s parents, identified as the accused individuals below, were the only ones present and responsible for the care of the infant. Following the investigation, both parties were arrested on October 14th. The child is currently in the care with other family members.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On October 4, a 22-year-old woman told police that she was sitting in her car, when the suspect came up, brandished and pointed his handgun at her. The victim knew the suspect and he began to shoot at the car, damaging it but the victim was not injured. Police have obtained a warrant for the suspect's arrest.

Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle – On October 4th at 4:39PM, officers responded to investigate a shooting call which was reported to have occurred in the area of Georgetown Rd and Wren Ct in Woodbridge (22191) on October 3rd around 11:00AM. The victim, a 22 year old woman of Stafford, reported to police that she was sitting in her vehicle in the above area when she encountered the accused, a known acquaintance. During the encounter, the accused brandished and pointed a handgun towards the victim. The accused then reportedly shot multiple rounds at the vehicle before fleeing the area. The victim’s vehicle was struck; however, no injuries were reported. Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant against the accused. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On October 13, officers found and arrested two suspects in connection to a burglary from the previous day. Police say a group of burglars broke into a home, three of whom were armed and caused minor injuries. Before leaving in two separate cars with two stolen cell phones, the home and residents were searched.

Malicious Wounding | Burglary while Armed with intent to Commit a Felony – On October 12th at 10:30AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2700 block of McGuffey’s Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary in progress. The homeowner reported to police that a group of armed individuals entered the residence through an unlocked door and began to assault him and another occupant of the home. Two of the suspects were reportedly armed with handguns while another had a rock in his hand which he used to strike the homeowner. During the encounter, the suspects searched the home and the residents before taking two cell phones and fleeing in two separate vehicles. Minor injuries were reported. Detectives from the Robbery Unit were able to identify two of the suspects involved in the incident. Both were arrested after a search warrant was executed at their home in Stafford County with the assistance of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives further learned that this altercation is believed to have stemmed from a previous incident between the residents of the home and the suspects. The investigation continues into the identity and arrest of the remaining suspects.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On October 11, a woman was arrested for driving under the influence with her 3-year-old daughter after she weaved out of the lane and struck a construction barrel. The woman's daughter was unharmed and given to a family friend while officers connected the woman to a separate, previous hit and run crash on I-95.

Felony Child Neglect – On October 11th at 8:38PM, an Prince William County police officer was monitoring the area of the Prince William Pkwy and Elm Farm Way in Woodbridge (22192) when a vehicle was observed which had extensive damage to its side. At one point, the officer observed the vehicle leave the travel lane and strike a construction barrel. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as the accused. The officer further noted that the vehicle’s airbags had been deployed. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested. Also inside the vehicle was a 3 year old girl identified as the daughter of the accused. Rescue personnel responded to check on the welfare of the child. No injuries were reported and the child was released to a family friend. The accused was later connected to a Virginia State Police investigation into a hit & run crash which occurred on I-95. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

GAINESVILLE, Va. - On October 10, officers from the Special Victims Unit and Internet Crimes against Children Task Force conducted a search warrant in the area and arrested a man tied to a child pornography case. Officers were led to the suspect after they discovered that he was talking to a 16-year-old girl from New York and upon further searching of his home, officers found more evidence of child pornography.

Child Pornography Investigation – On October 10th, detectives from the Special Victims Unit and members of the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at 4518 Logmill Rd in Gainesville (20155) in connection to an ongoing investigation into child pornography. The investigation began after it was discovered by another jurisdiction that a 16 year old juvenile female of New York was having explicit communication with the accused who resides in Prince William County. As a result of the search of the home, multiple electronic devices containing evidence of child pornography were seized. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

DALE CITY, Va. - On Oct. 7, a man was arrested after he threw multiple items at a 43-year-old woman and pulled out a knife towards her. According to the report, while holding the knife, he struck the victim in the face before police were contacted. The victim was taken to a hospital.

Malicious Wounding – On October 7th at 9:45PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12900 block of Queen Chapel Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 43 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused threw objects at the victim and, at one point, pulled out a knife. While holding the knife the accused struck the victim in the face. The victim was able to separate from the accused and contact police. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On Oct. 7, a woman was arrested for driving under the influence with an 18-month-old girl in the car. Police say that officers were in the area initially investigating a report of a potential DUI driver when the woman was identified.

Felony Child Neglect – On October 7th at 9:05PM, officers stopped a vehicle in the area of the Prince William Pkwy near the Horner Road Commuter Lot in Woodbridge (22192). Officers initially received a complaint about a possible DUI driver in the area. The vehicle was located and stopped for a traffic violation in the area above. The driver was identified as the accused and determined to be driving under the influence. Also inside the vehicle at the time was an 18 month old girl. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested. The child was released to the custody of other family members.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. - On October 7, following an investigation, detectives arrested a man for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, whom he knew, more than one time since August 2014. According to the report, when a family member found out, police were contacted.

Rape | Aggravated Sexual Battery – On October 7th, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 16600 block of Hardwood Oaks Ct in Dumfries (22026). The investigation revealed that the victim, a 12 year old girl, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, on more than one occasion since August of this year. A family member learned of the incidents and contacted police. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

LAKE RIDGE, Va. – On Oct. 6, police were in the area investigating an apparent domestic assault and battery when they found and arrested the suspect when he pushed an officer in the chest and resisted arrest while in handcuffs. 

Here’s the latest from Prince William police:

Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer / Resisting Arrest – On Monday, October 6 at 10:37 PM, officers were investigating a possible domestic assault and battery that occurred at Dillingham Square in Lake Ridge (22192).  During the course of that investigation, officers located James Horton III at his residence on Allspice Court, also in Lake Ridge.   Mr. Horton pushed the investigating officer in the chest and then began to actively resist being handcuffed after being told he was under arrest.  The officer was not injured in the course of arresting Mr. Horton.
