BRISTOW, Va. - On October 8, officers and members of the Special Victims Unit and Internet Crimes against Children Task Force arrested the residents of a Bristow home after following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Police say that a Tumblr account contained sexual content of underage boys and when officers identified and located the owner of that account and the home, they found and removed several pieces of evidence of child pornography.

Child Pornography Investigation – On August 8th, detectives from the Special Victims Unit and members of the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force began an investigation into child pornography after a tip was received through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip provided detectives with information about nude and sexual images of underage boys being uploaded to a specific account via the social media site called “Tumblr”. The investigation into the owner of that account led investigators to a residence located at 13580 Dodsworth Dr in Bristow (20136). Detectives subsequently obtained and executed a search warrant at the home. As a result of the search, multiple electronic and storage devices which contained illicit images were located and seized. The identity of the victims in the images is unknown; however, detectives were able to determine that the children were minors. Following the investigation, the adult residents of the home were arrested.

MANASSAS, Va. - On October 16, police found and arrested a man for striking a 23-year-old male victim in the face and then using a crowbar to strike a second male victim, 42, on the head outside of a 7-Eleven store. Police were told by the victims that the three men were involved in an argument inside of the store before the incident happened.

Malicious Wounding | Assault & Battery – On October 15th at 2:02PM, officers responded to the 7-11 located at 7420 Old Centreville Rd in Manassas (20111) to investigate a fight. The victims, a 23 year old man and a 42 year old man – both of Manassas, reported to police that they were involved in a verbal altercation with another customer inside the store. The altercation continued outside and escalated physically. During the encounter, the other customer, later identified as the accused, struck the younger victim in the face before retrieving a crowbar from his vehicle. The accused then used the crowbar to strike the older victim in the head. The accused left the area prior to police arriving at the business. Minor injuries were reported. The victims were able to provide police with the suspect vehicle’s license plate which identified the suspect. The accused was later arrested on October 16th.

MANASSAS, Va. - On October 12, a woman was arrested for striking a 37-year-old man, whom she knew, with a lamp and then running him over with a car once the victim tried to approach her. The woman initially fled before police could find her and the victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Malicious Wounding – On October 12th at 2:50PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 10900 block of Tower Pl in Manassas (20109) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 37 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused stuck the victim with a lamp before exiting the residence and getting into a shared vehicle. The victim approached the accused, at which point, she accelerated forward and struck the victim, knocking him onto the hood of the vehicle. The accused fled the area prior to police arriving at the home. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the accused who was located and arrested without further incident.

DALE CITY, Va. - On October 16, police say a man exposed himself to four children between the ages of 6 and 10 years old as they were walking home. Investigation is on-going. 

Here's the latest from Prince William police:

Indecent Exposure – On October 17th at 10:16AM, police responded to the 4500 block of Knoll Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an indecent exposure incident which was reported to have occurred on October 16th at 4:00PM. The investigation revealed that four children, between 6 and 10 years of age, were walking home in the above area when they were approached by an unknown man. During the encounter the man lowered his pants and exposed himself to the children prior to departing from the area on foot. No injuries were reported. A man similar in description to this incident was also reportedly seen jogging in the same area last week. No exposure or contact was reported in that incident. The investigation continues.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – On October 15, a man was arrested for trying to assault a woman, and at one point he grabbed a knife and held it to her neck. Police say that the man initially prevented her from contacting police until she was able to get away from him.

Here’s the latest from Prince William police: 

Attempted Malicious Wounding – On October 15th at 3:04AM, officers responded to the Roadway Inn located at 13964 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault. The victim, an adult woman of Maryland, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim and, at one point, retrieved a knife and held it to the victim’s neck. The victim was able to separate from the accused and contact police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with attempted malicious wounding

 LAKE RIDGE, Va. – On October 15, police arrested a man for forcing a 37-year-old woman into a bedroom and attempting to sexually assault her. According to the report, the two were arguing before the incident and minor injuries were caused.

Attempted Rape | Abduction – On October 15th at 6:27PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12100 block of Greatbridge Rd in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an attempted sexual assault. The victim, a 37 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused forced the victim into a bedroom where he attempted to sexually assault her. At one point, the victim tried to callpolice but the accused took the phone from her and left the room. The victim was eventually able to contact police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with attempted rape and abduction

Manassas health center serves as backdrop to announce new push to get more on Obamacare

 

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe continued his push to get more residents on the rolls of the federally-funded healthcare program known as Obamacare.

The state's top leader was in Manassas on Friday at the Evergreen Health Center where he announced Virginia is one four states to receive a $9.3 million grant awarded by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS).

MANASSAS, Va. - On October 8, two out of four suspects were arrested in connection to the armed robbery and assault of an 18-year-old male victim on October 6. The victim told police that he was in the area to meet a female friend when he was assaulted by a group of men, who then stole his cell phone and money before leaving the scene. Police are searching for the remaining two suspects.

Armed Robbery | Assault by Mob – On October 6th at 3:23PM, officers responded to investigate an assault which was reported to have occurred in the 11800 Medway Church Lp in Manassas (20109). The victim, an 18 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that he had made arrangements to meet up with a female acquaintance in the area above. During the encounter, a group of unknown men approached and assaulted the victim using blunt objects. The men took the victim’s cell phone and money before fleeing the area. The victim went to an area hospital for treatment where police were contacted. Detectives from the Robbery Unit were able to identify four of the suspects involved in the incident. Two of the four suspects were arrested between October 8th and October 9th. The remaining two suspects are currently being sought on active warrants.

GAINESVILLE, Va. - On October 14, a 39-year-old man was hospitalized and died as a result of his injuries due to a crash. Police say the victim, who drove a 2011 GMC Denali, was struck by the driver of a 1992 Honda Accord when it was making a right turn. The driver of the Denali lost control and then struck a concrete pillar. The other car stayed at the scene, with no injuries. 

Here's the latest from Prince William police: 

Crash – Fatality – On October 14th at 9:54PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Lee Hwy near the I-66 overpass in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2011 GMC Denali was making a right turn onto Lee Hwy from Linton Hall Rd when the vehicle struck the driver of a 1992 Honda Accord who was making a left onto Lee Hwy. Following that collision, the driver of the Denali continued northbound on Lee Hwy at a high rate of speed and eventually lost control. At one point, the vehicle became airborne and struck a concrete pillar to the I-66 overpass. The driver was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The other vehicle did remain at the scene, no injuries were reported. Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in this crash. The investigation continues.
