Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “A Stafford man was arrested on Friday for animal cruelty after a brandishing incident last month brought the animal abuse to light.”

“On December 29, 2023 deputies responded to Knollwood Court for a disturbance with a weapon. Deputy S.M. Eastman investigated the disturbance and learned Rickey Carr, 30, had been beating his pit bull named Demon with a stick. When other members of the home confronted Carr about the abuse, Carr brandished a handgun.”

“The handgun was seized and Carr was arrested for brandishing. He was subsequently released by the magistrate. However, the case didn’t end there. Sergeant A.J. McCall responded to the home and seized Demon as well as another dog owned by Carr and began an investigation into the animal abuse.”

“Sgt. McCall observed Demon was bleeding from the nose and mouth and he was transported to a veterinarian for treatment.”

“As a result of the investigation, Sgt. McCAll obtained two felony warrants for animal cruelty . Carr was served on the warrants on January 12th during a seizure hearing for his dogs in the Stafford Courthouse. Both Demon and the other dog were awarded to Stafford Animal Control during the hearing.”

“The Narcan training will be led by Heather Martinsen, Wellness and Prevention Senior Supervisor at the Prince William County Community Services department. This event is being supported by the Virginia Office of Attorney General, Prince William and Dumfries Police Departments, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce.”

“In 2022, there were 2,490 drug overdose deaths among Virginians.­­ Almost eight out of 10 (79%) drug overdose deaths involving fentanyl, fentanyl analogs, and tramadol, according to the Virginia Department of Health.”

“Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On January 12 at 11:03 a.m., officers responded to the Longview Apartments located in the 13700 block of Lynn Street in Woodbridge to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed a resident of the complex, identified as the accused, retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and brandished it towards a maintenance worker who was in the parking lot. The parties eventually separated. At one point, the accused fired multiple rounds into the air before being detained without incident by arriving officers. No injuries or property damage were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Deandrae Ladale SPRADLEY, was arrested. Arrested on January 12: [No Photo Available] Deandrae Ladale SPRADLEY, 46, of 13711 Lynn Street in Woodbridge. Charged with willful discharge of firearm in public place, reckless handling of a firearm, and brandishing. Court Date: Pending | Bond: $3,000 Secured Bond.”

Prince William Police Department: “Commercial Burglary – On January 15 at 8:17 a.m., officers responded to Potomac Mills Mobil Gas located at 14496 Gideon Drive in Woodbridge to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed sometime between 6:00 p.m. on January 14 and 8:00 a.m. on January 15, entry was forced into the building through a rear bay door and then into the office area and ATM. An undisclosed amount of money and tobacco products were reported missing.”

“Residential Burglary – On January 12 at 1:06 p.m., officers responded to investigate a burglary that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 1900 block of Scarlet Pine Road in Dumfries between 3:00 p.m. on January 5 and 7:00 a.m. on January 8. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Cabinets were reported missing.”

“Residential Burglary – On January 11 at 11:08 p.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 9700 block of Sunrise Court in Manassas to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed sometime between 8:30 a.m. on January 10 and 8:00 p.m. on January 11, entry was made into the home through the unsecured front door. An undisclosed amount of money was reported missing.”

“Strangulation | Domestic Related – On January 14 at 11:57 a.m., officers responded to the Riverside Station Apartments located in the 14100 block of Big Crest Lane in Woodbridge to investigate a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed the victim, a 28-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim’s neck and struck her before the parties separated. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Quinton Jaquille THOMAS, was arrested. Arrested on January 14: Quinton Jaquille THOMAS, 33, of 47 Acadia Street in Stafford. Charged with strangulation and domestic assault & battery. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond.”

“Strangulation | Domestic Related – On January 11 at 11:02 p.m., officers responded to The Crossings at Summerland Apartments located in the 13700 block of Keelingwood Close in Woodbridge to investigate a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed, the victim, a 14-year-old male juvenile, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim before grabbing his neck. The parties eventually separated, and the accused fled the apartment. While investigating the incident, the accused returned to the apartment, and was detained without incident. The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Alvaro Jasmany TOLEDO-GARCIA, was arrested. Arrested on January 11: Alvaro Jasmany TOLEDO-GARCIA, 27, of 3931 Sunny Brook Court in Woodbridge. Charged with strangulation and domestic assault & battery. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond.”

“Assault & Battery on a Corrections Officer – On January 13 at 5:56 p.m., officers responded to the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center (ADC) located at 9320 Lee Avenue in Manassas to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed a corrections officer was assisting an inmate of the facility, identified as the accused, when the inmate grabbed the officer’s arm and pulled their arm into the cell. The officer was able to separate from the accused and sustained minor injuries to their hand. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Jamal Donniel JAMES, was charged. Greetings, Prince William – The Prince William Area Continuum of Care needs donations of $10 gift cards for the Point in Time Count (PIT) taking place January 24. PIT is a literal count of persons experiencing homelessness that occurs in January and is a requirement for agencies receiving federal funding for programs serving homeless persons. Prince William police reported the following incidents:

“Shooting Investigation – On January 10 at 9:24 p.m., officers responded to investigate a shooting that reportedly occurred in the area of Cloverdale Road and Dodson Drive in [Dale City] earlier that evening. Officers were initially called to an area hospital where a 20-year-old man was being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The preliminary investigation revealed the man was walking in the above area when he heard gunfire before being struck in the leg. After being injured, the man contacted a family member who brought him to an area hospital. Officers checked the area, locating no evidence of a shooting. No additional calls were received regarding gunfire. The man refused to cooperate further with detectives regarding the incident. Anyone with information to aid investigators in this investigation is asked to contact police.”

“Aggravated Malicious Wounding | Armed Robbery *ARREST – On January 10, 2024, the second suspect sought in connection to the shooting that was reported to have occurred in the 16900 block of Francis West Lane in Dumfries on December 17, 2023, was arrested. The accused, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, turned himself into the police without incident. Another juvenile was previously arrested in December in connection with this investigation. Arrested on January 10, 2024: [Juvenile] A 17-year-old male juvenile of Dumfries. Charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Court Date: Pending | Status: Held at the Juvenile Detention Center.”

“Aggravated Malicious Wounding | Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On December 17 at 12:07 p.m., officers responded to the 16900 block of Francis West Lane in Dumfries to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed the victim, a 23-year-old man, arranged to purchase marijuana in the above area from an acquaintance, identified as the accused. During the encounter, the victim and a 16-year-old male juvenile passenger were inside a vehicle when the accused and an unknown male, possibly a juvenile, approached the vehicle brandishing firearms. The 23-year-old victim grabbed the firearm from the accused which lead to a struggle. At one point, a round fired, striking the 23-year-old victim. Both suspects then took money and a backpack from the victims before fleeing on foot. The victims drove out of the area and contacted the police. The victim was treated at an area hospital for a non-life threatening injury. A police K-9 searched the area for the suspects who were not located. No additional injuries or property damage were reported. While investigating the incident, detectives identified the accused as a 16-year-old male juvenile who was taken into custody the next day. Detectives also identified the second suspect as a 17-year-old male juvenile and obtained detention orders. Attempts to locate the second suspect have been unsuccessful.”

“Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On January 11 at 6:16 a.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 2700 block of Myrtlewood Drive in Dumfries to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed the homeowner woke to gunfire and located a hole in the headboard of their bed. A bullet fragment was recovered by officers. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.”

Prince William Police Department: “Commercial Burglary – On January 8 at 9:45 a.m., officers responded to the Verizon store located at 3278 Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge to investigate a burglary. Video surveillance revealed at approximately 2:40 a.m., two unknown men smashed a side glass door and entered the business. Once inside the location, the suspects smashed the glass display cases and took several phones before leaving. There is no suspect description at this time.”

“Brandishing of a Firearm – On January 7 at 10:52 p.m., officers responded to the Candlewood Suites located at 11220 Balls Ford Road in Manassas to investigate brandishing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 48-year-old man, was involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot with another man, identified as the accused. During the encounter, the accused brandished two firearms before the victim left the parking lot and contacted the police. The accused remained on scene and was detained without incident. The accused was found in possession of two firearms, ammunition, and suspected illegal narcotics. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Michael Lee LOVELACE, was arrested. Arrested on January 7:

Michael Lee LOVELACE, 46, of 11220 Balls Ford Road in Manassas. Charged with 2 counts of transporting a firearm by a convicted felon, 1 count of brandishing, 1 count of possession of a firearm while in possession of a schedule I/II drug, and 1 count of possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Unavailable.”

National Museum of the Marine Corps: “The National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC) welcomed the 7 millionth visitor when Timothy Kapp, Jr of Youngsville, North Carolina, crossed the threshold on November 10, 2023.”

“Kapp, a Marine veteran with 12 years of service, and his wife, Kelli, traveled to the Museum for the Marine Corps birthday ceremony but traffic delayed their arrival. This is the first time they’ve been thankful for traffic jams, according to Kapp.”

“Museum Acting Director David Vickers gave Kapp a surprise ‘behind the scenes’ look at the coming galleries, which tell Marine Corps history from 1976 to 2016. The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation presented Kapp with a gift bag containing NMMC and Marine Corps memorabilia and a certificate for a memorial brick honoring Kapp as the 7 millionth visitor.”

“The NMMC opened its doors on November 10, 2006, the 231st birthday of the Marine Corps. Since that day, an average of nearly 412,000 visitors per year have experienced the history of the Corps.”

“Many visitors are veterans who experienced the history first-hand. Thousands of students visit each year as well, gaining insight into the past in order to successfully lead in the future. Many young Marines were inspired to join simply because they visited this beautiful monument–a testament to the honor, courage, commitment and sacrifice that epitomizes the United States Marine Corps.”
