Jack Cornett, 69, of Manassas, VA passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2:41 A.M.
Born on July 29, 1947 he was the son of the late Irsell Cornett and the late Jeanne Cornett.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Kathy Beall and Amelia Finamore.
He spent most of his life in Florida, Ohio and Virginia.
Jack proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from March 22, 1967 to September 10, 1969 serving two tours in Vietnam and continued with the USMC Reserve through November 28, 1972. He received several medals for his service: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medial, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ Device, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and Rifle Badge Expert.
After serving in the military, Jack was employed by the Federal Government. From July 6, 1970 to June 22, 1985, he worked as a Procurement/Contracting Specialist for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. From June 23,1985 to the date of his retirement, April 3, 2004, he was a Facilities Manager for the U.S. Tax Court.
Jack loved to play darts, having been a member of several dart leagues, including the Prince William Dart Association and the VA Dart League. He also enjoyed playing poker, spending time with his buddies every Friday night for many years. He loved visiting Charlestown and Maryland Live Casinos. Jack also loved watching sports, of course the Washington Redskins, baseball and basketball, especially the College Finals. Most importantly, Jack loved to spend quality time with his entire family.
He is survived by the love of his life, Monica “Mica” Cornett and his daughter, Amy Michelle Cornett.
He is also survived by his brother Jerry and sister-in-law Jo, brother Ken and sister-in-law Becky, many nieces and nephews, whom he loved beyond mere words, and his furry babies Singh Singh, Sassy and Little Bit.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on April 19, 2017 at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home in Dale City, VA.
A burial service will be held immediately after the funeral services at Quantico National Cemetery.
