· Prince William Area Free Clinic needs 1-2 registered nurse volunteers to work a few mornings a month at their clinic. Specific duties include case management and running the clinic. · Historic Manassas is gearing up for the Bands, Brews, and BBQ festival on September 10th. They need 60 people to poor beer from noon to 6pm. There will be two shifts for pourers and over 50 craft beers and siders for sampling! Contact Erin at: [email protected].
· Chapel of His Glory provides legal, social services, financial management workshops and fun family gatherings to families in the Manassas community. They are looking for volunteers with legal skills, translators to a host of languages, admin support, events and children minders. Come join their team in Georgetown South Community! · Brain Injury Services is looking for a Frank Sinatra fan to visit with a wonderful young woman with a brain injury. She lives in Centreville and would like a visitor once or twice a month for six months. She has a keen interest in Frank Sinatra! Please call Michelle at (703) 451-8881 ext. 232 to learn more.
· Catholic Charities- Hogar Immigrant Services is urgently seeking teachers for the English classes in Manassas. These classes are held Monday-Thursday but volunteers are only asked to teach once a week. Training is provided and you do not need to know any other language. · Helping Neighbors Outreach Center in Dale City needs volunteers to help in the office on Thursdays from 9:30-3:30. Duties include answering the phone, mailings and other admin duties. Please call Pastor Edmonds at (703) 964-7725 for more info.
· The Community Health Network at the Manassas Park Community Center needs volunteers on Tuesdays from 8am-12noon. Duties include assisting patients with medical forms, assisting with tracking information on electronic software and other admin jobs. Great training is provided by the VA Dept. of Health. · Mark your calendars for the next Community Forum on Wednesday July 6th – 7pm at the Old Manassas Courthouse titled: The Rural Crescent: Fact or Fiction? This event is sponsored by The PW Conservation Alliance. All are Welcome. You can call (703) 490-5200 for additional info.
· The PW Conservation Alliance will also conduct a spruce-up of the K9 Gunner Dog Park on the following days: July 9 from 10am-12pm; July 17 from 2pm-4pm; August 6th from 9:30am-12pm. · Independence Empowerment Center looks forward to its 9th ADA Celebration at the Harris Pavilion from 10am-2pm on July 23rd. Please plan to join them for live music, food, and children’s’ games. They will announce the winner of the 2016 design contest for this year’s t-shirt.
· Habitat for Humanity has started the new home makeover on Central Park Drive. Lots of volunteer opportunities on this home. Please visit the volunteer calendar for all the specifics at: www.habitatpwc.org for all the specifics. They especially need lunch donors to bring lunch to the other volunteers. It’s easy- just make some sandwiches, a bag of chips, few cookies and a drink to make their day.
