Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding – On April 27 at 6:42AM, officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 16806 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. Employees reported to police that two unknown men entered the store. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a handgun and demanded money. At some point, an employee struck one of the men, later identified as Leonel Alferdo GRANADOS-ZELAYA, on the head with a stick causing a large laceration. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. No other injuries were reported. A police K-9 responded and located GRANADOS-ZELAYA who was detained without incident. The second suspect was not located. Further investigation revealed that the two suspects were involved in a verbal altercation a short time earlier with an employee of the Valero service station located at 17315 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Dumfries which escalated. During the encounter, the suspects punched the employee in the face. The suspects left the business prior to police arriving. Minor injuries were reported to the victim. GRANDADOS-ZELAYA was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Following the investigation, GRANDADOS-ZELAYA was arrested. The investigation continues.Arrested on April 27:
