The Manassas Park Community Center wants to give one lucky mom a makeover to remember this year.
We talked to Carol Fleurette of Carol Fleurette Photography about her donation of photography services to this year’s makeover contest.Â
CF: I am a professional photographer and started my business in California. After a long seven years off, I picked up my camera again to continue to pursue my passion. I specialize in family portraits but have a wide range of experience from sports, nature, landscape, weddings, parties and graduations.
MPCC: What makes your business unique?
CF: I am an artist. I create art. In addition to family portraits, I use my photography as a way to meet a variety of people and find inspiration for creating children’s books. I write and illustrate children’s books and my photography helps me do that.
MPCC: Why do you think customers choose you and your business?
CF: Customers choose my business because I help make their experiences a pleasant one. I pay close attention to their wants and needs and make sure that I put those things together on top of a little creativity to create amazing portraits. Also, because I am trilingual in English, Spanish and American Sign Language, I cater to a variety of communities that might otherwise not have accessibility to decent communication between them and the photographer.
MPCC: What is your favorite Mother’s Day memory?
CF: My favorite mother’s day memory was living in California and having brunch at Mimi’s Café, my mom’s favorite restaurant, with my family. It was a tradition that we had.
MPCC:What drew you to donating to the Mother’s Day Makeover Contest?
CF: Community has always been very important to me and being a part of the Manassas Park Community Center makes me feel like I am a part of a big family. It was easy for me to volunteer for the Mother’s Day Makeover Contest because I want to be a part of that special day. I want to be a part of that community and what better way to do that, than to capture that happy moment for eternity?
MPCC: Why do you think being involved in the community is important for business owners?
CF: Involvement in the community is important because as a small business owner, you are part of that community. You contribute your services to the needs of that community and in return, you get long and lasting relationships.
MPCC: What are other causes and non-profits you support?
CF: I am a big Deaf rights activist in my community. I am Hard of Hearing/Deaf and I support communication accessibility, access to information, Deaf employment and many other issues pertaining to the Deaf community.
