A women's center that performed ob-gyn services and abortions will close Sept. 28.
The Amethyst Health Center located at 9380 Forestwood Lane in Manassas will close its doors after 27 years. The owner of the clinic will retire this month. She declined to give her name to Potomac Local reached by phone.
Patients at the clinic may obtain medical records between now and the closure date.
"We have provided excellent service for 27 years," the owner said. "We believe in a woman's right to choose."
The owner said the center had treated women from as far away as New York and Miami.
The owner did not consider putting the business up for sale. Other women's health clinics in the area will be able to see patients that were once seen in Manassas.
A new zoning rule enacted in Manassas this year requires all outpatient medical facilities to obtain an special use permit from the city council before opening anywhere in the city.
