The Peoples Banquet at Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge

Every person deserves to feel loved, respected, and valued. Simply for being here. But not every person has that opportunity. On August 22, one area couple, Sultana and John Jones, will show that love to some of those forgotten due to circumstance.

They will hold the People’s Banquet at 5:30 p.m. August 22, 2015 at the Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge, Virginia. The purpose of this event is to show honor, respect, and love to VA veterans, nursing home residents, homeless families, and autistic children. They anticipate up to 400 people.

The Joneses are raising funds to make the event happen. All size donations are welcome.

Why such an event? News stories show us just how dire the situation is for these vulnerable populations. Many veterans suffer various medical conditions and other issues that prevent them from living full lives. Nursing home residents often feel as if they have been hidden away and are now out of sight and out of mind of loved ones who once visited but no longer come by.

Homelessness is a pressing issue in our area, as many families are still feeling the sting of the Great Recession, despite news stories that the country has recovered and moved on. And autistic children sometimes face ostracism and low awareness among their peers and even adults who do not understand their condition. All of these populations need to feel more love from their community.

The event will provide a beautiful evening of delicious food, inspirational testimonies, and helpful community resources.

To donate funds to this effort, contact Sultana Jones at 571-255-0361.
