Update 4:45 p.m.
One firefighter was injured in a blaze this morning in Stafford County’s Widewater area.

Rescue crews were called to a house at 199 Quarry Road at 10:24 a.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, they saw fire showing on all four sides of the house, according to initial reports.

At first fire crews were told the occupants of the home could still be trapped inside, but they soon learned no one was home when the blaze broke out, said Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.

A massive fire, it took fire crews an hour and 15 minutes to bring it under control.

One firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, and was taken to a local hospital and treated for their injury, said Doyle.

Assistance from the Red Cross was not needed, he added.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and a damage estimate was unavailable Thursday afternoon.
