July 26, 2015 marks 25 years since the day the Americans with Disabilities Act commonly known as the ADA was signed by George H.W. Bush.
Join Independence Empowerment Center on Saturday, July 25 in a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the ADA. The event will be held at the Harris Pavilion, 9116 Center Street in Old Town Manassas.
The event will feature displays from such nonprofits as Didlake, Matthews Center and the disability Law Center of Virginia (dLCV); and other supportive businesses such as Access National Bank, the Yellow Cab of Prince William County and Damsel in Defense. We also will have two local artists, John Hollohan with his paintings and Caroline Elgin with her wonderful assortment of coffee mugs and pictures. Plus, we will have animals—a miniature horse and service dogs. There will be games for the children, and a silent action with some great prizes such as a one hour family session with a professional photographer, cookware and signed professional sports items. A must see!
Please come and celebrate with Independence Empowerment Center who, works in your community advocating for the civil rights of all people with disabilities. Support them in their continuing efforts to help people with disabilities, of all ages, remain independent in their own communities.
