Shelley Lynn Basham, 56, of Seven Lakes, West End, North Carolina, went home to be with The Lord, Monday morning, June 22, 2015.

Shelley was born in Bristol, Connecticut, on September 25, 1958 and lived the majority of her younger life in California where she graduated from Norco High School in 1976. Relocating to Virginia with her family in 1977, Shelley met and married the love of her life, John Wesley Basham, jr. on June 22, 1985. Shelley and John resided in Nokesville, Virginia until 2014 when they moved to their retirement home in Seven Lakes. Shelley was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago. She passed away on her and John’s 30th wedding anniversary.

In addition to her loving husband, Shelley leaves behind three sons: David Knight Basham of Franklinton, North Carolina, married to Abbie Basham; John Wesley Basham, III of Stafford, Virginia; and Zack Andrew Basham of Locust Grove, Virginia, married to Sarah Basham. Shelley’s mother, Barbara Ann Zack, preceded her in death in 1985. Her father is Stanley W. Zack, Jr., of Stafford, Virginia, and is married to Linda Duvall Zack.

Shelley leaves behind four grandchildren: Caleb Basham, Leah Basham, Aaron Basham, and Andrew Basham. Zack and Sarah are expecting Shelley’s fifth grandchild in September. Shelley also leaves two sisters, Lori Zack Busey of Big Bear, California, and Julie Zack Cuccia of Camarillo,

California, and a brother, Tony Zack of Destin, Florida. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

As a child in California, Shelley was active in 4H, raising and showing her own sheep and dairy cattle, winning numerous awards. She and her husband John fully supported their three boy’s sporting activities from grade school, through high school, and then college. They never missed a single sporting event in which their children played.

Shelley worked as an administrator with Prince William County Schools, Manassas, Virginia for 20 years. She was well known and loved by all she came into contact with at school and was a positive guiding force in the lives of numerous families that she interacted with over the years.

Shelley was a fun, happy person who loved to the fullest The Lord, her family, and her friends. She was an adventurer who was willing to try anything and have fun doing it!

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania
