I’ve come to a decision: Texting is tantamount to Satan ruling the Earth–or maybe not.
I apologize for not coming through, as promised, when last I wrote. I’m sorry to those anticipating fresh ammunition to tick off young people.
I, also, apologize to the young people, that I didn’t (as promised) tick you off.
OK, enough apologies and explanations.
Now—why have my thoughts changed to “maybe not”? (It’s a part of the title and the second sentence.)
While in the hospital I was made aware of how cell phones interfere with medical equipment (a concept I’ve always wrongly ridiculed). Evidently, the spoken word, when processed by a phone, creates and broadcasts a tremendous amount of electronic interference as voice is changed to digital radio data, and then transmitted.
Texts have little or no effect. Therefore, I only conversed in person or on a landline during a recent stay at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
I did, however, text.
As I got better, I loathed it less. Now, I actually appreciate texting, thanks, primarily, to my “April in Hell”.
Let me re-assure you all that I’m a firebrand and I’ll always be one.
Next week, Osama. I’ve already been pilloried, ridiculed and damned on my Facebook page for my opinions. Next Wednesday—your turn.
“How do you really feel David?” Well…I’ll tell you next week.
That’s my piece, and I’m sticking to it. I’ll try to do better, next week. Please comment or ask questions below or to my By email .
I’ll even recommend the best docs and nurses who practice on the Medical Ward at Fair Oaks Hospital.
David N. Britt covers the interesting, offbeat and entertaining happenings that you would write about if he wasn’t already doing it for you.
