  • · Good morning Prince William – SERVE in Manassas needs volunteers this Saturday October 18th for their Super Thrift Yard Sale. There are two shifts – one from 8am-11:30am and then 11:30am-3pm.     · Volunteer Prince William also invites you to Disaster Planning workshop for community organizations and small business on Friday October 24th in Woodbridge. Come learn strategies to continue serving clients and customers if your employees can’t come to work or if you lose utilities, or your facility is damaged.     · Area Agency on Aging is looking for a volunteer to teach a beginner’s Spanish class one day a week on either on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for an hour or so in the middle of the day at the Manassas Senior Center. Potomac Mills Mall is preparing to welcome U.S. Polo Assn. Outlet,  the official clothing brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA).

A wanted Woodbridge man led police on a high-speed chase down I-95 before being captured by Stafford deputies and Virginia State Police. Gideon Owusu, Jr., 31, faces charges including malicious wounding of a police officer, reckless driving, DUI, and larceny. Meanwhile, deputies responded to a fight at Planet Fitness, fraudulent ATM withdrawals, a hit-and-run, and shoplifting at Dollar General and ABC Store. A mailbox was also vandalized with fireworks.

(FXBG Advance) – A Fredericksburg resident has filed a petition asking the Circuit Court to compel the release of applications, notes, and interview questions related to the recent Ward 3 vacancy and to block Council from holding closed meetings to discuss matters related to filling the vacancy.

In a unique and chilly demonstration, residents of Fredericksburg gathered Wednesday to protest a proposed data center development near the Rappahannock River by building snowmen.

Organized by the Rappahannock Community Coalition, the “Snowmen Against Data Centers” rally took place just one day after nearly 10 inches of snow blanketed the region. The snowmen were erected on the Mary Washington University Campus, City Hall, and a house off Harrell Road in Stafford County.
