Robert “Bob” Tyson

Robert “Bob” Tyson retired as a LTC after 30 plus years in the Army.  He was a Special Forces Green Beret and an Airborne Ranger.  He served a tour of duty in Laos and 2 tours in Vietnam.  Bob then worked for nearly 20 years for the State Department in the Maintenance Support Division.  In this position, he traveled the world to American Embassies in countless countries.
Bob was very active with the Woodbridge Wireless Amateur Radio Club as a “HAM” radio operator, where he assisted with organizing emergency communications for the the Dale City Fourth of July Parade and volunteered his time at the Prince William County EOC during periods of heavy storms and for New Year’s Eve Y2K.  He was a member of the Prince William County Crime Prevention Board and participated in many events including the Prince William County Fair and the National Night Out motorcade tours of the county.
Bob passed away early Sunday morning, June 8, 2014, after a short battle with a rare, aggressive type of cancer.  His family was at his side until his passing.  He is survived by his wife Carol, his daughters Susan and Bobbi, his son Randy and several grandchildren.
There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge VA 22192.  Bob will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, however details for the burial are not available at this time.

Stafford County Public Schools announced that Nevaeh Lewis of Colonial Forge High School and Emma Siegmund of Rodney Thompson Middle School have been selected for prestigious roles in Virginia’s legislative programs. Lewis will serve as a House of Delegates Page, while Siegmund has been chosen as a Senate Page. These appointments provide hands-on opportunities to learn about government and leadership during the upcoming General Assembly session in Richmond beginning January 8.

Superintendent Dr. Daniel W. Smith praised the students, stating that these roles will help develop leadership skills and inspire civic engagement. Both programs include working with legislators, participating in committee meetings, and engaging in civics and leadership education. Pages will also take part in mock legislative sessions and community service projects.

Siegmund, a high-achieving middle schooler with a 4.0+ GPA, is active in Model United Nations, the National Junior Honors Society, and other academic programs and is the daughter of county school board chair Maureen Siegmund. Lewis, a talented artist and performer, is also deeply involved in her church and community.
