Jack Nicklaus Coming to Potomac Shores to Inaugurate His Golf Course

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The man who designed the newly opened golf course at Potomac Shores will pay it a visit on Wednesday.

Jack Nicklaus, who won 18 career championships and was the first golfer to ever win the Masters Tournament two years in a row, will visit the new course along the Potomac River near Dumfries. It will be a chance for him to inspect the layout, as well as take questions from golfers who might be curious to know what thought process led went into designing the course.

The course features a hardwood forest outline, dramatic vistas, rolling greens, and holes that play along the Potomac River and Powell’s Creek, according to a press release promoting the Nicklaus’ upcoming appearance.

The golf pro will take questions first from a small group that was hand-selected to play the course early Wednesday morning. Afterward at 1:15 p.m., he’ll take questions from the audience, and then participate in a first tee ceremony at the course.

The 18-hole, par-72 course is open to the public and is located at the end of Potomac Shores Parkway, the old Harbor Station Drive, at 1750 Dunnington Place near Dumfries.
