Investigators say they now know burglarized several churches in the area in January.
Here’s more in a press release from the Stafford sheriff’s office:
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Adam Jarrett Booth, age 25, of no fixed address, has been charged with two incidents involving thefts from two Stafford County churches. Adam Booth has been arrested and charged with 4 Counts of Credit Card Theft, 1 Count of Grand Larceny and 1 Count of Petit Larceny.
On Thursday, January 9, 2014 Stafford deputies responded to Mt. Ararat Baptist Church at 1112 Garrisonville Road for a report of a theft. A male suspect had entered the church, spoke briefly with an employee and then was seen leaving the church. That employee then noticed a wallet was missing. On Sunday, January 12, 2014 Stafford deputies responded to Rock Hill Baptist Church for another report of another missing wallet. In this incident, the same man involved in the Mt. Ararat theft spoke briefly with a member of the church, asking about the church and then was seen leaving the church parking lot in a tan vehicle. That member of the church then noticed that her wallet was missing.
Stafford Detectives Jason Dembowski and Greg Bender initiated an investigation into these related incidents. Their investigation led to the arrest of Adam Booth on Monday evening, February 10, 2014. Booth was arrested when the car he was driving was spotted on Garrisonville Road in Stafford County. He was arrested without incident.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office would like to acknowledge the assistance of the media in helping to solve this case. As a result of numerous media stories, the Sheriff’s Office received a large number of helpful tips that help lead to Booth’s arrest.
