Stafford County Public Schools had planned on letting students go home early on two upcoming days, and on giving them the day off on two others. Now, they’ll be in school.
Students in the county have missed an equivalent of eight days this school year because of inclement weather.
Now, two days that were supposed to be teacher work days – March 11 and April 18 – will now be instructional days. Additionally, two days when students were going to be released early from classes – April 22 and May 27 – those days will also now be full school days, said Stafford County Public Schools spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim.
Students already had to attend classes on President’s day because of past inclement weather closings and cancelations, though they were scheduled to get it off.
June 20 has also been added to this year’s school’s instructional calendar.
So far this school year, Stafford has closed schools for inclement weather five times beginning December 16. They’ve also either closed early or have been delayed by two hours at least five times.
