Brothers Sought in Dumfries Homicide Nabbed in Florida

Two men who have been on the run from police for nearly a week are now in custody in a Florida jail.

The two brothers, Christopher Tolliver, 27, and Douglas Tolliver, 29, are suspects in the shooting death of Tasheka Leavell, 35, who was shot and killed inside of her Dumfries home Thursday.

Murder *ADDITIONAL ARRESTS – On January 23rd, the U.S. Marshals’ Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals’ Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, located the 2 remaining suspects involved in the murder which was reported in the 17600 block of Washington St in Dumfries on January 17th. Both suspects were located at an address in North Palm Beach, Florida where they were apprehended without incident. Both men are in police custody and will remain in jail until they are extradited back to Prince William County.

A third suspect who is also related to the two suspects arrested in Florida was arrested at his home in Prince William County on Sunday.

The funds will come from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which the council says was designated for infrastructure improvements.

The decision has sparked debate among council members and residents, with some questioning the public benefit of demolishing the building instead of repurposing it. During the public hearing, resident Marshawn Schneider raised concerns over long-term financial impacts, particularly regarding the cost of future public restrooms at the park.

The Occoquan Town Council is advancing key initiatives, including the integration of the town’s police department with Prince William County’s computer-assisted dispatch system, improving emergency response. A public hearing is set to discuss a new cigarette sales tax ordinance, aligning with neighboring jurisdictions.
