WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Wegmans Supermarkets are voluntarily recalling Wegmans Pumpkin Rolls that were sold in the bakery between Sept. 1 and Oct. 30 because the food could contain pieces of plastic, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

The plastic is clear and therefore difficult to see, but it may be sharp and could present a choking hazard.

The recall encompasses all product codes and includes the two-slice 6-ounce package, the half roll 10-ounce package and the whole roll 21-ounce package.

The pumpkin rolls were sold in all 81 Wegmans stores in Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Local Wegmans stores in the Potomac Communities  are located at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center in Woodbridge, The Shops at Stonewall in Gainesville and in the Central Park Shopping Center in Fredericksburg.

According to a press release, the recall was initiated by Wegmans following complaints by customers who found the plastic pieces.

Customers should return the product to the Wegmans service desk for a full refund.

For questions about the product or this recall, the store’s consumer affairs department can be reached at 1-800-WEGMANS.
