Police Investigate Body Found in Old Town Manassas

Police in Manassas released a statement about the body of a male found this morning in the city’s Old Town district.

The Manassas City Police Department responded to a vacant parking lot in the 9000 block of Church St shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. There, Police found the body of an unidentified African-American male. The cause and nature of death are under investigation. Police have no further information at this time.

Anyone with additional information about these cases is encouraged to contact the Manassas City Police Department Investigative Services Division and the Manassas/Manassas Park Crime Solvers anonymous tip line. The Manassas/Manassas Park Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward up to $1000 for information that leads to an arrest in these cases. The confidential 24-hour tip line is (703) 330-0330

8:30 a.m. 

MANASSAS, Va. — Police this morning are investigating a body found in Old Town Manassas.

There’s little information to go on as police are in the beginning stages of their investigation, according to police Sgt. Lowell Nevill.

The body was located near Fulton Bank on Church Street about 8 a.m. by fire and rescue crews.

Police will not release information about the gender of the body pending their investigation.

Drivers are being detoured around the scene as traffic is being routed off Va. 28 south to Mathis Avenue, then to Main Street where they’ll once again be able to pick up their trip on Va. 28 south, said Nevill.
