LAKE RIDGE, Va. — The land near a floating dock at Lake Ridge Marine is eroding. The spot is only public place to launch a boat, kayak, or canoe on the Occoquan Reservoir in Prince William County
Now, with $77,500 in federal grant money from the National Park Service, and remaining funds from the Prince William County, The Prince William County Parks Department will improve the shoreline at Lake Ridge Marina. The entire project will cost $230,000 with the county’s parks department picking up the remainder of the tab.
County officials said years of launching boats and kayaks along the river shore have caused serious erosion and safety issues at the park.
The parks department accepted the federal grand money in June and expects to have the first engineering plans for an improved shore line by December. The entire project should be complete by June 2014, according to a project timeline.
Lake Ridge Park and Marina offers paddle boats, picnic facilities, and trails at their location on Cotton Mill Drive in Lake Ridge.
