DALE CITY, Va. — Joe Frempong looked up as the horn sounded on the last game of the year.
The freshman basketball season at Gar-Field Senior High School in Woodbridge had just come to an end.
“I let you all down, I’ve should of done more,” said Frempong to his teammates.
Gar-Field’s freshman team season record was 1-17.
Since the season has ended in March, Frempong who is 16 has consistently worked on his game, taking time to proactive every day. This summer he decided, along with a couple of teammates, to enter a team in the 13-17 summer basketball league at the Hylton Boys and Girls Club in Dale City.
Soon as the first pass came his way his teammates could tell there was something different about his game.
“I’ve never seen him more determined,” said teammate Danny Knight.
Team Wolfpack, named after the North Carolina State University, has a 3-1 record in the league, is being lead in assist, rebounds, and steals by Joe who is the second leading scorer.
Before every summer league game, he reminds himself that in order to make junior varsity he has to give 100 percent.
“I plan to be ready” Joe said.
With only a few months until tryouts, we can only wait and see.
