MANASSAS, Va. — Wegmans provided healthy eating tips to a Boys and Girls Club in Mansssas this week.
Approximately twenty students participating in a Wegmans internship program brought presentations on eating healthy to the club on Wellington Road on Tuesday.
Children were encouraged to play basketball and dodge ball, as well as an educational game about healthy eating choices, and to try samples of fruits and vegetables. More than 75 children were in attendance, and all received take-home activities and were treated to a movie, “Puss In Boots.”
âWe were asked to bring a presentation with us to the club specifically talking about healthy eating choices, half plate healthy (eating half a plate of veggies and fruits and the other half protein) and eating a rainbow (eating all the different colors of the rainbow for veggies and fruit),â said Paxton Cope, a Wegmans intern.
The children were also able to write down and draw what they had to eat that day.

Changing the name of Dulles International Airport to Donald J. Trump International Airport has been proposed by freshman Congressman Addison McDowell, a Republican from North Carolina.
Rep. McDowell, 31, who represents the 6th Congressional District, introduced the bill alongside Reps. Brian Jack (R-Ga.), Riley Moore (R-W.Va.), Brandon Gill (R-Texas), and Guy Resand Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.).

More than two weeks after a power outage set off a series of events that crippled Richmondâs water treatment plant, Virginia regulators are putting the city on notice that it may have violated state law and are launching their own investigation into what went wrong, the Richmonder reports.
âThe water crisis should never have happened and was completely avoidable,â wrote an official with the Virginia Department of Healthâs Office of Drinking Water in a notice of alleged violation issued Thursday. âThe City of Richmond could have prevented the crisis with better preparation.â
A majority of the residents who spoke during Wednesdayâs public input session about Fredericksburgâs proposed Technology Overlay District acknowledged or even supported the cityâs pursuit of data centers.
Rather, itâs the terms and timetable governing said pursuit that comprised most of their questions asked during a joint meeting of the Planning Commission and City Council.
More than one speaker noted that adjacent jurisdictions, such as Stafford County, have taken up to six months from initiating the public process to voting for a data center. By contrast, Fredericksburgâs city council first discussed a Technology Overlay District in detail on Dec. 10 and could vote on related resolutions and ordinances as early as its Feb. 25 meeting.
