School board shifts weapons search policy to COO as system prepares for metal detectors

Policies on search and seizures of Prince William County Public Schools students will now be set by the division's chief operating officer.

The county school board voted to shift the duty from Superintendent Dr. LaTayna McDade to Vernon Brock, whom the school division hired as COO in 2022.
