Shower Shelter Opening in Stafford

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. -- As Stafford County residents without power continue to sweat it out in this summer heat, at least now they can take a hot shower.

County officials will open a cooling shelter at 11 a.m. at Gayle Middle School. Located in the county’s expansive England Run subdivision, the shelter will offer shower facilities where residents can bring their own toiletries and clean up until 7 p.m.

Operated by the YMCA, those who come today will be asked to show photo ID. The same goes for tomorrow when the shelter will open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to Stafford spokeswoman Shannon Howell.
