A 9-year-old girl who was shot by a stay bullet in Woodbridge last month remains hospitalized.

"She...is not out of the woods. She has injuries that may last a lifetime," said Prince William County Police Chief Peter Newsham on Tuesday, June 7, during a Board of County Supervisors meeting.

The Board called on Newsham to provide an update on a shooting spree involving multiple incidents that gripped the county in April and May. Four people died in three separate incidents, and several others were shot -- including two men at a flag football game at Benton Middle School on May 1 and the 9-year-old girl on May 24.
