Update 3 p.m. – Highway opening back up
One lane of traffic has been reopened following a crash that injured a Virginia State Police trooper.
That lane, at exit 160 just north of Woodbridge, was reopened at 3 p.m., according to the Prince William police department.
The crash happened about 1:30 p.m., involved three cars, and forced rescue crews to take two people – including the state trooper – to the hospital with injuries that didn’t appear to be life threatening, according to officials.
The crash happened near mile post 158, at Prince William Parkway, and spurred delays of six miles or more, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

A Virginia State Police Trooper was involved in a crash that closed northbound Interstate 95 this afternoon, but authorities say his injuries are not life threatening.
Three cars were involved in the crash near Prince William Parkway about 2 p.m. Monday.
The trooper and another victim were flown as “a precaution,” according to initial reports, neither of them seriously injured.
An emergency helicopter can be seen landing on the highway, and cars can be seen in a backup near the apparent crash site.
State police have yet to comment on the crash.

Rita McClenney, President and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation, emphasized the importance of the Visitor Center as a resource for wayfinding and discovering unique experiences in Fredericksburg. “A lot of people research before they travel, but there’s nothing like being on the ground and finding out about a place through the people who know it best,” said McClenney.
