Driver leads Stafford deputy on chase

A Fredericksburg man is facing multiple charges after he fled a traffic stop and led deputies on a pursuit.

On Saturday, December 19 at 11:47 p.m., Deputy M.A. Pearce was on patrol when he observed a vehicle run a red light at the intersection of Melchers Drive and Warrenton Road in Falmouth. The vehicle then drove at a high-rate of speed onto Warrenton Road. The deputy was able to catch up to the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop, according to Stafford sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

The deputy discovered the driver’s license was revoked. He then asked the driver to turn off the engine and exit the vehicle. Instead, Nelson placed the car in drive and sped off. Deputy Pearce returned to his vehicle and gave chase.
