The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office was recognized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police for excellence in two areas. The Stafford Sheriff’s Office was presented a trophy as a finalist in the international Webber Seavey Award.
Law enforcement agencies worldwide compete for this award which recognizes agencies for promoting a standard of excellence that exemplifies law enforcement’s contribution and dedication to the quality of life in a community. Agencies that receive this award have their programs shared with the entire law enforcement community.
The Stafford Sheriff’s Office was in competition with agencies such as the Toronto Police Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Vancouver Police Department.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office also received a first place award in the Law Enforcement Chief Challenge, a traffic safety award given to law enforcement agencies that have an outstanding traffic safety program.
The Stafford Sheriff’s Office received first pace in their division with law enforcement agencies that have from 126 – 300 sworn employees. Stafford presented their initiatives that include the Survive the Drive Program, the 3-D Drunk and Drugged Driving Program, the School’s Open Program and the Youth YOVASO program.
