Lewey Clayton Wilson

Lewey C Wilson, Sr ,77, affectionately referred to as “Lew” by many, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning on April 15, 2020 at his home in Dale City, Virginia after a strong-willed and resolute fight against cancer. Throughout his battle, he praised his Lord for all the victories and never lost his trust in Jesus even on the most difficult days. Lewey was known as a man with a strong presence and exemplified a kind and gentle demeanor. His faith served as a living example of his true love for God and his family.  Lewey also loved technology which was evidenced in the way he transferred this love of tech to his children and grandchildren.

Lewey was born on June 11, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Matthew Wilson and Ida Katherine Darby and grew up in Clanton, Alabama. In 1961, Lewey graduated from the Chilton County Training school in Clanton, the county’s only school for educating Black children. In 1961, he accepted the call to serve our country in the United States Air Force. After basic training, Airman Wilson was trained in electronics and radar repair. He was assigned to the 664^th Radar Squadron at the Bellefontaine Air Force Station. It was at this post where he met his loving wife Bonnie Clark and after his discharge in 1965, they were married on April 10, 1966 in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

The couple moved to New York City to start a family where 3 of their 5 children were born. Lewey began his career with Honeywell in New York where he worked as a computer technician. The young family moved with Honeywell to Oklahoma City and then Northern Virginia where the other 2 children were born. Lewey’s entrepreneurial spirit was engaged when he saw the great need for reliable and competent computer and systems services, especially for government clients. With support from Bonnie, they launched Technical Sales & Service (T.S.S.) in the late 1970’s in Fairfax, Virginia where they provided computer sales and maintenance contracts in a time when the personal computer was becoming the primary business tool in many companies and offices. After several years of managing both his career as a systems analyst at Honeywell and the increasing demands of T.S.S., Lew ended his career with Honeywell after 25 years to devote his efforts full-time to T.S.S. and its staff. As the personal computer industry matured, and the PC became a common item in people’s homes, Lew saw a need to provide internet services to high density residential buildings in Northern Virginia. After realizing that he had the skillset to manage the complicated building phone networks, he launched Metronets in the late 1990s to provide affordable internet with great customer service to these customers. Even as Lewey battled cancer, he continued to manage Metronets and to service his customers.

Lewey is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Jean Wilson and all his children and grandchildren. His children are Lewey (Kim) Clayton Wilson Jr, Audrea (Kenneth) Lynn Mitchell, Allen (Sylvia) Wayne Wilson, Melissa (Roy) Elaine Walker, and Craig (Kimberly) Noah Wilson. From his children’s unions, he was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Lewey is also survived by his brothers Solomon D. Wilson, Jerome D Wilson, Alonzo Wilson and sisters Susie Smith, Jo Ann Williams, Catherine Jackson, and Bettie Wilson as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lewey was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brothers K’Artis Wilson, Matthew Wilson Jr., Dwight A Wilson and his sisters Jessie Mae Broady, and Nina Faye Beauchamp.

The services will take place at Dale City Christian Church on Tuesday, April 28^th where Lewey served as a faithful usher. The burial will take place immediately afterwards at the Quantico National Cemetery. The services are only open to the immediate family due to the current restrictions on public gatherings.
